Project 99 GSX AKA "MN3Y PIT" - JustinG - 01-03-2007 I thought I would post up one of these nifty project threads, mostly to help me keep up with what I have done, and also to allow everyone else if they are interested to keep up with what ive done to the GSX as well. ![]() First off my goals for the car as of right now, Weekend AutoXer Reliable What was done to the car when I purchased it: Exhaust: Extreme 3" downpipe, 3" testpipe, Thermal R&D catback with neck down cut off. I dont wanna go to crazy with this car becuase I dont think I can go without being able to drive it on the street. Comments: I Absolutely love this car, HUGE improvement over the RS. Nothing but traction, loves boost, and gets descent gasmileage even using a SAFC to tune. My only complaints are the exhaust is incredibly loud on the interstate, hopefully tyhe catalytic converter will quiet it down, and the normal rattles that all Mitsubishi interiors have can be somewhat of a nuisance. I do general Maintenance, oil, plugs, filters, etc., and she drives all day with no problems, just as realiable as any car. *KNOCK ON WOOD* ![]() Updated 4-27-10 - Feersty - 01-03-2007 Very concise Justin. Car looks good. I need to get a ride at some point. I rode in the RS, but definitely need to see what this thing can do. - ScottyB - 01-03-2007 very nice indeed. even with all those mods i'm sure you're just scratching the surface. - WRXtranceformed - 01-03-2007 I've always liked yours and DJs whips. Great writeup...and here's to a problem-free 2007 for you! - HAULN-SS - 01-03-2007 You shoul dget that thing on a dyno and get a baseline with everything thats already been done - Goodspeed - 01-03-2007 Congrats Justin, that car is a ton of fun...I can attest to how it gets up and goes, no muss no fuss the car is fast. I'll miss the tractor sound and dark tint though Can't wait to see it again!
- JustinG - 01-03-2007 HAULN-SS Wrote:You shoul dget that thing on a dyno and get a baseline with everything thats already been done I definately wanna get it on a dyno, only problem is finding an AWD dyno, hopefully the shop[ in staunton with the AWD dyno is legit, im gonna try and check it out when i get back in the burg. - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-03-2007 Lets tune her up a little bit before that tho Justin. Im starting to tune mine and id like to see what the difference between a s-afc tune alongside a dsmlink w/ wideband and 3bar gm maf sensor does. Even though you have a more efficient turbo. - Nis01 - 01-03-2007 Glad to see those stickers are going to good use. Nice work, can't wait to keep up with the build. - JustinG - 01-03-2007 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:Lets tune her up a little bit before that tho Justin. Well within the next month ill hopefully be able to purchase a wideband, then ill be able to tune the safc through a wideband. We shall see though. I wish i had never sold my wideband off the RS. - Jewels - 01-03-2007 white97dsm Wrote:HAULN-SS Wrote:You shoul dget that thing on a dyno and get a baseline with everything thats already been done AR Fab in Winchester has an AWD dyno. And I just happen to know a guy who works there. I've known this guy since the second grade, so if you want I can get in touch with him, and see if they can work something out. I know they are legit too, cause they did a lot of work on that Corrado that runs in GTS with NASA. - Nis01 - 01-03-2007 ^^ Agreed. AR Fab is a great group of guys. Within the last year they have really been opening up to the AWD market. I know they just put down something to the tune of 625 on a project WRX of theirs. If you ever plan on going up there I'll definitely be willing to bring the Subie up for some dynoing as well. - Feersty - 01-03-2007 white97dsm Wrote:HAULN-SS Wrote:You shoul dget that thing on a dyno and get a baseline with everything thats already been done Do you got one semester left, Justin? - JustinG - 01-05-2007 After all that work....Cracked the valve cover, overtightened, although give me some respect i was being very very careful. New JDM TYTE VC should be here soon, same treatment will be given to it polished letters and black paint. - JustinG - 01-16-2007 Well, i was researching some widebands and called for a price from horsepowerfreaks.com, i dealt with them during my RS build up. When i was doing the RS i ordered some injectors, they happened to be the wrong ones, so i sent them back. I assumed they credited the money back to my credit card, i paid off the credit card a couple years ago. Well when i called and got the price check they asked my information, low and behold they hadnt credited it back to my credit card they made it store credit. So i ordered the PLXM300, and only had to pay 6 bucks shipping. Technically i bought the whole thing but it was 2 years ago, so ill consider it a bargain at 6 bucks. Should be here tommorrow, then let the tuning begin. Here is the wideband i purchased..... http://www.plxdevices.com/M-Series_productinfo.htm Also the new VC is installed crack free thanks to DJ, i wasnt gonna touch the thing in fear of over torqueing and breaking it again. - ScottyB - 01-16-2007 nice! heard many a good thing about the PLXM300. - JustinG - 01-16-2007 yea i had it in the RS, i liked it. One of the better units out there for the price. No logging ability, but an update to the current pocketlogger software will be taking care of that. - JustinG - 01-18-2007 wideband installed, A/F is lookin good, turned up the boost to 17.5 and had no instances of knock according to the safc and my a/f looked good, a little rich but still good. But my autometer gauge was reading 21 psi, either i got some nasty creep or the autometer gauge = poo - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-18-2007 yay for 16g, boost creep!!!! We need bigger turbos and bigger wastegates...damnit, I said I wasnt going to spend any more money. - Nis01 - 01-19-2007 Nice work Justin. I'm hoping its autometer gauge being crap and not boost creep. Glad to see you could turn the boost up a bit. |
