2010 VW GTI - White One!
And car is suddenly not so bulletproof, but is getting handled well (aside from the fact I again took it to that same VW dealership and they didn't bother to call me I wouldn't be getting it back same-day AGAIN).

Had a grinding noise from the passenger rear corner, my e-brake was acting funny, and now and then I'd get a nasty squeal from the corner. Turns out the dust shield was bent and rubbing now and then. Will be fixed today.

And then my clutch was intermittently chirping in 1st and reverse. They weren't able to repro it on the 1st day (it's VERY intermittent), but did today. There's a service bulletin for it. The fix? New clutch, which will be put in next week.

Hurray warranty!

I still love the car, would definitely buy again and recommend to anyone looking.

They couldn't find my paperwork for about 10 minutes when I showed up tonight. Good times.

The rattle issue is fixed. Take it back next week for new clutch.

18k. It's a defect.

And the rattle is back today. Sounds pretty unhealthy... almost wheel bearingish.

New clutch is in and they fixed another TSB for a leaking rear washer nozzle. Didn't experience any of the usual hassle so that's good. Could be, however, that I wrote them a scathing Yelp review and communicated re: it with their service manager and my service person so they gave me extra care.

I think the rumble from the right rear still might be there or I could just be trying too hard to hear it. The paperwork says it was caused by the bad clutch. Odd.

The clutch TSB was that the springs come loose and cause a chirp and can rattle when the clutch is disengaged. They said that was my rattle. The sound could have been throwing itself down the exhaust somehow? Don't know... It was definitely from the RR.

Anyway, car is back to being awesome.

Sorry for not replying... No, the power is perfectly fine for me.

Car is back in the shop for a nasty clunking noise in the FL ever since the clutch job. It got REALLY bad this weekend so I decided to do something about it. Sounds like an axle or balljoint pop. Of course when I take it in, they had no record of me coming in, to which I show them the confirmation e-mail. As always, good times.

Figures. The VW dealer out in Sterling was similarly out of sorts when I went in.

So the noise you get is only when moving? I have a knocking/clunking sound from the right rear that can happen while moving or stopped, but my googling said that was the fuel pump or something doing a pressure check or some nonsense and that it was normal behavior.

I hope they're able to sort it out, does it drive differently? Did you jack it up and give everything a good shake? Luckily everything on mine is nice and tight, with the exception of a little extra noise from the right front shock going over speedbumps.

I can feel the pop, but no, doesn't drive differently. Yes, only when moving. No, I didn't spend a minute on it because warranty.

It's been in the shop for two days now. Haven't heard a thing from them. I guess it's on me to make contact. :dunno:

Gave them a call this AM. Spoke to a service manager rather than my rep. He said they had to order a part and hope to have it today. I clearly told them on Tuesday that I needed the car back this evening, fixed or not (have a trip that requires a means to carry two bikes tomorrow AM and my roof rack is the only means I've got).

Anyway, he said my rep would call me in a few minutes with the details. That was 3 hours ago.

Your stories and my brief experience at the dealer are really dampening my dream of getting an MKVII when they come out. Sad

It's sad when the cars are reasonably reliable and the local dealers are absolute trash.

Mike, it almost sounds like you have reason to complain to VW corporate about the awful-ness of your dealership. I'm sure they won't like how poorly the brand is being represented.

Reasonably reliable? From skimming this thread it seems like the car is always at the dealer for some sort of rattling noise, etc, etc. I understand the warranty deal and it's the easiest to take the dealer but that's just wasted time of your day/life.

Mike -- seriously try tweeting at VW-USA, I think Paul (Baz) had some good luck with that when his Toureg went to shit and the dealerships were giving him the run-around.

I will eventually. Maybe around the time I'm shopping for another car so I can tell them that it's why I'm not buying their brand. Maybe get me a discount?

Wait, you're going to buy another one? Is there some kind of Stockholm Syndrome with VW owners where they just want their car to love them back or am I missing something?
