Just wanted to let you know that both you and Sam were really inviting and helpful from the start along with the other officers. I was a little nervous about joining and you guys made me feel at home from the start. Whether it's karting or tailgating, I'm sure I'll continue to have great experiences in MM.

Senor_Taylor Wrote:Justin, you certainly haven't, but we've caught a lot of flak. So this happens pretty much every year. It should probably be mentioned when you guys run that within a couple of months no matter how well or bad you're doing, something like this will be brought up. Some of the comments made were a result of statements made by officers, others were just alumni ranting. It's kinda important though especially since i don't remember the last time an officer ran opposed (might be a reason for that  )
Would it be a lot easier if the alumni graduated and left you all to your own devices? Maybe
But they can also be a valuable asset at times.

Taylor don't take it so personally. We literally do not even have to even acknowledge alumni exist but we do because of what they give, opportunities, fun, money, connections, and a lot of other things. I understand how you feel as I can feel the same way at times just have to learn to ignore it.

I can't find a single instance in this thread that said you guys were doing a bad job. We all care about this club because we all have a shared common interest in motorsports. You guys wanted to be the officers or the face of this club and we elected you to lead and I don't think anyone regrets that. It seems like you guys have been very active and doing a great job but there was some concern about one of the bigger, more popular events wasn't going to happen. Naturally, some of us were concerned. So lets work together to come up with a solution whether karting happens or not, but lets not ignore legitimate concerns that we have.

Well, we will worry about Karting later once everything is more set in stone. Right now, we've got lots in the works for the near future.
Wow, well that came to a nice ending

The evolution of this club started with just students, with a short reach, and very little activity past weekly meeting and track events. As the evolution of this club grew, more and more members graduated and the alumni population grew. Alumni have more expendable income and the "events" grew. we gained a lot of popularity and membership at times, other times not so much. The growing alumni membership are the backbone of this club.
I know I have personally given at least $1,000 to the club over the last 5 years for special project and events. I know some of the tools in the MM garage were donated by me.
Alumni support has been what has carried this club through the hard times. and we have plenty. You even bitched about some of the hard times in my garage when I helped you with your car. Do not spite and turn your back on the largest percentage of club members. because the fact is alumni are members too. concentrate on students all you want but this club wouldn't be where it is without the previous students, their experience, and their now bitchy alumni ways.
this is the right time of year, every fucking year, for the officers to pat themselves on the back with "we are doing better than last year" posts and the post "we don't need to include alumni, but we do it." I'm not here to bust your balls, I'm here to remind you that you are repeating history... the same history I've heard the current officers bitch about.
when the old ass guys show up to an event... just wait to hear the stories... ask about them. wait for people to call each other out over bitching about Officer X and someone going "you did the same shit!" I swear it happens.

History tends to repeat itself for some reason or another. I'm not saying we are ignoring you at all I was choosing to tell Taylor we do it because of all the things you give back which are very useful things. I like to listen to actual feedback from Alumni but I don't like listening to complaining just to complain which is about half the time but I just brush it off.
I'm pointing out that your suggestion, has been taken by him several times, and the results aren't that great. IMHO suggesting that it still an option is a bad idea.
plus we need to get ALL the dirt laundry about before turducken.

Nonono we need to hold it all in and add to it a little JUST before turducken. Then, add alcohol and diverse fowlmeat...'splosion! Fistfight, cops get called, Taylor sets something on fire; Turducken That Will Live In Infamy. Don't take this from me, Kaan.

Funny what sets people off, for some its shirts, for some it is cancellation of karting, for some it's a little drama.
