Winter Projects for Jeff...2006

Projects under each car are in order, however the cars themselves are not in order of importance or action.

Daytona
-Pay off loan used to buy all the parts, irony is working to pay for the parts is keeping me from finishing the car
-Assemble engine bolt-ons
-"refurbish" my A555 transmission + LSD and moly endplate
-Install drivetrain, "tune"
-Paint and body work

Van
-New shocks, struts, and swaybar bushings
-Install boost and A/F gauges
-Install T-bird intercooler setup
-Acquire T3 turbo and g-valve boost controller
-Trailer hitch?

Omni
-Buy and install head and exhaust system
-Correct "no start" condition
-Give to Sylvia as winter/spare car

Challenger
-Get dad to buy all the parts needed to get it running
-Finish and install dashboard and windows

Yeah, its a lot to do in one winter. Most of my energy right now is figuring out how to pay my note on time so I don't shit on my credit. Hopefully I can figure that out soon and move on to getting this shit done!

suggestion: one car that needs work while you don't have a large income... i mean, what is the need for all of those? the challenger i understand keeping in the background.

Very short term (next couple weeks):

STI: Get it out of here.

318: Swap EVERYTHING (plus cam) from the longblock of the tired 1.8L to the hopefully less tired 2.0L. Toss that in and use as beater.

325:
1. In shop getting a new cat as I type this.
2. Install new plugs, valve cover gasket, replace two vacuum fittings.
3. Install new GC gear (rear springs/collars and front camber plates)
4. Address heat/HVAC issue.

Then longer term (all for the 325 - more wants than needs, no particular order, and most won't happen)
1. Interior needs work (seats/carpet? dash?)
2. HID's (I'm spoiled by those things)
3. Euro HFM/injectors/chip
4. New muffler maybe, I think the current one will be loud even after the exhuast is fixed.
5. Install A/C
6. 3.25LSD to replace the 3.73
7. Short shifter
8. Some semblance of a heatshield for the intake
9. e36 M3 rack
10. Rear subframe and trailing arm bushings

it would have been too much $$ and time and effort (not willing to at the moment) to try and make this track-worthy. In retrospect i wish i reinforced the front crossmember and made it a daily driver, but i've made a pretty decent amount of money so far parting this thing out. I'll eventually get another one

Those are just the things I would like to do over the winter if time allows. Really it a list of the next few steps to each given project. I really am focused on working to make money to pay off the note. I might work on getting the turbo and stuff bolted up to the Daytona tomorrow. I am going back to try to positively ID the knocks and bangs in the van's suspension, if I have time, I will hit the tona.

Last time I replaced my dash with a used one (complete PITA, btw), the 'new' one cracked way worse than the original 1 month later. I swore I'd never do it again unless I sprung for a new one...but now yours fell in my lap. I'll think about it.

I'll probably just stop caring and tell people it's the airbag.

Complete motor rebuild coming, but nothing to really be excited about, unless my budget allows for the stroker. I hope the thing just runs right.

D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:Next year the main focus will be saving for track time...Over the winter, I will finish all of my projects that I have sitting around. I got into an accident 3 weeks ago and bent my front radiator support and everything up front, so its been an expensive and time-consuming project getting this thing back together.

List of projects that I have parts, just need to put on and tune
1. Aluminum Radiator
2. 13x4x2 Oil Cooler
3. Carbon Fiber Hood with (maybe?!) Carbon Trix Vent
4. Ducting with the new front bumper
5. Battery Relocation to the rear
6. Front 4-piston Brembos with 13-inch rotors
7. Rear 2 piston Brembos with 12.3 rotors
8. Magnus Intake Manifold
9. Remove A/C Compressor as AC condensor got smashed so I had to remove that
10. Tune my dsmlink setup to work better with GM MAF
11. Actually tune for my Big(ha!)16g
12. Figure out how to work my AVC-R.
13. Install harness

Then the stuff I want or need to do over the winter
- 4-wheel alignment
- Some type of coilovers
- 17x9 with 245/40/17s
- Roll Fenders
- Save for the track events

Anybody got any suggestions? I have dozens of autocross experience but my track knowledge is limited to two 30 minute sessions.

Carbon fiber hood is on
Aluminum radiator is on
More Projects added to the list that I have parts for:
SS fuel feed line with fuel filter
Underhood Shifter Bearings
Aligning up and making my front end perfect, cuz there is a bunch of very small adjustments needed to make it look right

Just ordered the parts for the 120k mile maintenance to be completed over Thanksgiving break. The timing belt is called for but I'm not going to do it. I've take the cover off and inspected the entire belt and it looks brand new. It's a non interference engine so I'm not too worried.
