The new 2015 corvette Z06 is going to be an absolute beast. Supercharged LT4 making "at least" 625 hp with 635 ft lbs of torque. GM says its faster around a track than the outgoing ZR1. For the first time ever, the Z06 will have a removable hard top roof. Even with the roof removed the chassis is 20% stiffer than the outgoing ZR1 and with it in, it's 60% stiffer. Also for the first time ever, the Z06 will be offered with an 8 speed automatic. 7 speed manual still available of course.

I've always had a fetish for the Targa, maybe in 10 years I'll be able to afford a 997 Targa 4S. Probably not, but maybe.

![[Image: ku-xlarge.jpg]](http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18zmk49mw714jjpg/ku-xlarge.jpg) Haha! Would love to have more than one Jag in the family. My wife is too frugal for that though (thank Jesus). We would probably end up in another Hyundai.

I think its an abomination that destroys the lines of the 911, just like the original awful targas.
The new STi is kind of meh. Long story short, it handles better and still uses the same old ej25 with 305hp. They really should have bumped the power up or at least used the FA series motor that they put in the WRX.
I was really hoping they were going to get away from the problematic ej25 in the current cars.

That car has been making 300 hp for 10 years now, it's unacceptable that they haven't moved the game on. Especially now that some other cars in that price range are starting to make really big power (e.g. Mustang GT). And it doesn't look like the new STI will be lighter to compensate.
The good thing about Subaru is that they seem to react quickly when there is a lukewarm reception to the WRX. Just remains to be seen if they will respond if STI's rot on the lots (which I think they will).

Also, this guy makes a good point about what's wrong with the C7 Z06:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2014/01/editorial-dont-you-call-that-thing-a-z06/">http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2014/0 ... ing-a-z06/</a><!-- m -->
What it comes down to for me is, I am against a T top Z06 with an available slushbox. It's bullshit. You've never see a targa top GT3 and you'll never see a slushbox in a Ferrari. It's just tacky and shits on the cred they built with the Z06. That said, I'm not their target market, so maybe they're fucking geniuses.
Also, the vents should be body color.

you cant get a GT3 or Ferrari for under $100k either.
You have to have economy of scale to make this car work for the price they are charging.
Who cares if its "available" with stuff you dont want as long as you can get it with the stuff you do want.
the guy that wrote that article sounds like a ginormous douchenozzle who cares more about image than anything
Oh yeah the author certainly cares more about image than the actually driving. He doesn't sound like he does anything that the previous Z06's was designed for in the first place.
I wonder though if the typical Z06 customer will be a bit turned off by the t-top, which might explain why in the press release they made a point of mentioning that the Z06 is stiffer than the ZR1 with and without the top in.
