People who try the “I only have X” tactic when buying something. No, you have more, you just don’t want to pay more, which I can respect, but don’t be a pussy and just say that. If you really don’t have more, go pound sand.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

A guy made an offer on my 135 this week, offering $20k sight unseen. I'm guessing he's a small time used car dealer. At a current list of $24k, its low but he wasnt a dick about it at all. I told him I'd think about it.

I love the "what's your lowest price" question. Bitch, my lowest price is what I posted unless you want to actually make a coherent offer using full sentences.

:cool story bro:

These don’t bother me much just funny how the guys that ask that question are always the super low ballers.

Wow a solid offer at 50% off. Can't believe you didn't jump on that!

I don't mind the guy offering $4k under Rj's asking price. I think that is a good starting point to possibly meet in the middle or come back to him if it doesn't sell for $24k.

I don't even know why you guys bother responding. Lowball offers, asking for bottom line price, incomplete sentences, or dumb questions like "is this still available?" all get immediate deletes.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

"Is this still available?" is pretty acceptable I'd say. I've emailed people about craigslist ads tons of times to have them say it's already gone. Most people dont bother with deleting their craigslist ads.

You know what's better?

"If this is still available, I'd like to come look at it [insert availability]."

Saves us two emails.

edit: I put in my ads that if it's still visible, the thing is still available and not to reply asking solely that question.

Because the 10% chance is worth a couple hundred dollars?  I have had it multiple times where I get lowballs and interact politely.  A week later, "Hey ill take it".

A 20 second response is worth it for what I do. Depending on the week is wether I delete those responses or not, bad week...deleted...

A competent, respectful buyer who understands market value always comes along. I guess I'm just not that pressed to sell my stuff.

Then again, I told a buyer I would not get out of bed at 7 am on a weekend to let him test drive the Mini. It sold a month later for more than that guy offered anyway.

Yeah, I'm with DJ, if something is worth x to me, and it's way under what the person is asking I'll throw it out there and tell them no offense intended, it's just what I'm willing to pay for it, so they can keep that in their back pocket and my offer is good anytime if they decide they want to take me up on it.

And that, kids, is the story of how I now have a 92 e30 convertible.

IMO, there's a big difference between offering what you think something is worth and responding to lame buyers.

If I offer something well below asking, I don't expect a response in the same way I don't respond to stupid ass emails.

I think it comes down to me just not wanting to deal with people's bullshit and folks who can't manage to correspond like an adult have an unusually high level of bullshit that comes along with them.
