lol. You could buy my battery relocation kit, install it and put the overflow in the battery's place.

i think ill just use this beer bottle on my desk
OK just as an update, just installed my new wheels, Rota Boosts in 17x8, love them they look amazing. Should be purchasing my logger in the next few weeks. Well over the summer ill be making a small amount of money, some will be invested, some held, and the rest goes to the car. Top mods on my list are.....
Harness
Sway Bars
Brakes (Pads, Rotors, lines, fluid)
DSMlink
Recaros out of an EVO if i can find a good deal.
Any other suggestions, keep in mind my goals are a DD and good AutoX car.
Cage imo

im not crazy about a cage in a DD, i would'nt mind a roll bar though
Roll bar + some kind of back seat bracing imo

yea, I want to put a roll bar and maybe an x brace behind the rear seat at some point, but I have a sweet rear strut tower brace for now . Do my future mods seem in line with my goals for the car?
If its just an auto-x car... I wouldn't put in anything larger/heavier than a harness bar. Looks like a good list Justin, I'd do the sways first... they made a world of difference on my car.
thats the plan, ill prob end up with a harness before the end of the school year, def before the next autoX, since its not looking good for the 22nd.

RM sway bars for our car make a HUGE difference. I am running intrax springs on stock shocks that have softer spring rates, and I still run circles around most cars in handling. Definitely one of the best upgrades along with dsmlink. I dont think harnesses are a big deal, as much as the seat.
A roll cage should definitely be on the list for an autox car, but for street duty stay away. Due to our coupe/hatchback chassis design, our cars are torsionally weaker, coupled with the sunroof, its a disaster. This is where the chassis of the EVO really kicks it up, due to that B pillar and lack of sunroof, along with lots of seam welding instead of shitty welding that we came with. We have this gaping hole in middle of our roof and no real structure for those long doors and windows, along with a hatch for a whole between the two upper rear mounts.
Eventually when this car gets completely done, ill be getting her acid dipped and stitch-welded all over the place. That does wonders without even adding the weight of a roll cage. Take a look at the Opera race cars in Japan, they stitchwelded everything up and actually drilled holes in the sheetmetal savings tons of weight, but ended up making the chassis a hell of a lot of stronger.
Then eliminate the one of the last evo suspension better points, and replace our rubber bushings as much as I can with spherical bearings.
Anyway, got carried away, definitely get sway bars, have fun with the front one. I hated doing it. After that either replace your tokicos with konis and/or get some RRE spherical top mounts to replace our shitty rubber suspension mounts.

you don't need a roll cage for autocross, if anything it is wasted weight. All the national level cars are rolling roll cage/bar free (except the nationals winning STS2 Miata, which had a rollbar) I would spend the money on suspension, tires and wheels, and experience.
now if you are going to track the car, then......
yea the roll bar thing is nothing thats gonna happen in the near future.
It helps in autocross, all the national DSM guys run ones...and there is reason for that.

what classes? You have to have one in the prepared (not SP classes) classes I believe. I can't see how it would help a SP car or a ST/SM car. It would strengthen the chassis, but it also adds a lot of weight
Most DSM autox guys are huge road racers, and weight albeit a big deal iis less concern for our chassis. We already weigh at 50lbs to 200 lbs then WRXs and Evos, so we try to get the strength. You can hear the sunroof creak and moan when you go over a odd angle bump.

40-50 lbs is a huge concern only if your car is pushing 100whp =P
I don't think adding a bar would make Justin's car noticeably slower, and the benefit of the strength... especially based on what DJ is saying about DSMs... probably drastically outweighs the minor drawback of a little added weight. Besides, you can make up most of that weight differential by swapping out smaller, lightweight wheels for track days.
