I like CVT and it does wonders for an under powered (or overweight) car. Our hybrid Camry has it and we take it over the mountains to western PA a lot. It's fantastic going up hills, keeps the power on tap and makes it super easy to maintain speed even fully loaded. Hold the throttle steady and it keeps the engine exactly where it needs to be. With a regular auto, the car realizes it can't keep the speed in the top gear, downshifts into the powerband and you pick up speed, so you lay off throttle a bit and it takes it as a sign to upshift and you slow down until..more throttle, downshift rinse repeat...on every fucking hill for 3 hours. I guess more autos are shift-able now and can be held in gear, but that shit was annoying...

I have a little bit of a rub near lock but if you are turned to lock on a track there are other problems already...
So apparently Subaru is now building Evos. Further proof that Subaru design peaked in '05. Son I am...

I've slowly adjusted to the design but I'd still prefer a hatch. Honestly the biggest turnoff is the equal length headers or whatever they did to get rid of that classic Subaru burble. Why would they change it? If I was gonna buy a Scoob that sound would be 60% of the reason.

Too bad it doesn't come out until early-2015 and it'll probably cost $40k. And it's a VW, which according to this board means it will experience 4 engine failures before it can cover 50 miles. But aside from all that stuff, my god I want it.

power, spool, emissions.
the "subaru rumble", as badass as it is, was always the product of compromised header design due to cost and packaging constraints (hay guys lets make an exhaust system that looks like a hotwheels stunt track!), and the fastest factory subarus like the Spec C WRXs over in Japanland came with EL headers and twinscrolls to get the most out of them.
its a signature of subaru (my favorite modification on mine is the unequal header) but its easy to replicate in any 4cyl car. just pair the wrong cylinders together to screw the exhaust pulses all up

From about 2:45 to 3:00 in the video in my above post the designers make a few references to the I-6 of the 2000GT and Supra, so...fingers crossed.
And 2 pedals/hybrid reference.
