"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

AMZN up 15% this morning on Q1 earnings, I feel like I should sell.... :dunno: :?:
Actually, thinking about selling just about everything. Fed's going to crash this party this year for sure.
*edit*
I couldn't stand to watch anymore, sold

Soooo I've been buying silver for a few months now. It was at a high of 48 a few years ago and it currently around 16. I don't trust the market and collecting treasure is kind of fun. Anyone else have metal?

Yea I've debated adding some to my portfolio for a while just to diversify a little. I can't see putting much more than a few grand into it tho

I'm talking physical metal. I suppose paper metal is just the same financially, but treasure is the tits.

Silver is a better buy now being 33% of high. Gold is 66% of its high. That's a massive difference in room to the ceiling.
And then there's markup variations, gold/silver ratios.
If you're looking for gains, I think silver is the way. If you're looking for less volatility and lower markup in quantity, gold.

That's a massive difference in room to the ceiling. buuuuut, and I know not much about precious metal trading, silver is typically more volatile, so its "high" being higher is to be expected. And I wouldn't consider either a ceiling. That being said, I still prefer silver because it has more actual demand in manufactured goods, and is more affordable. What fun is ONE gold coin, I cannot swim in that.
The only thing that bothers me about either physically is the rather high % loss in both the buy and sell and how much harder it is to do either. I guess that's the price of insurance against the dollar....

yeah, definitely painful premiums paid for buy and sell, but potentially made back when you report your earnings?

we buy bars and coins... gold and silver. the best deals will be if you travel internationally and buy spot price for the bar/coin... just wait for a low day on your trip. last time we were in Turkey gold dropped 6% in one day, I left the bar with my uncle and we walked down to the corner to buy some. you can bring home $10k in receipts worth per trip... but I'm not that ball'n.
in the United State you pay a premium to get it in your hands.

in the United State you pay a premium to get it in your hands. That's a good point, the next time I make a big jewellery purchase it will be in the Caribbean (tax/duty free brings it close to online prices and you can buy from an AD). Might have to check precious metal prices while I'm down there.
That brings me to another thought, when I first started researching gold there appeared to be reputable sites you can buy from online. I didn't get far enough to price shop but has anyone gone that route before?

The only one I've used (twice) is Scottsdale Silver (they have gold too). I've been satisfied with them, though they can be really slow about shipping. Price is locked in when you buy so it's not a big deal to me.
I didn't know about buying out of county, I like it. Too bad I rarely have such travel plans.
