For the amount of money it's going to cost to swap in stronger pistons, rods, heads, crank and the machining + labor, it looks like I may have to go with a pre-made fully built bottom end =(

Which is like $4000.

If your spending that money, y not go a magnus short-blcok stage 3 sleeved.....only 5 grand. That shit wont ever break on you even maxing out that gt35 of yours...

I didnt realize this about subaru engines....

When Subaru's were not popular on these shores we were trying to extract big hp out of the 2.5L impreza blocks. We soon realized that the stock block would not cut it, stock blocks splitting caused imminent and catastrophic failures in many of our early test motors. We soon developed our very own sleeve to be used on all of the Subaru EJ engines. We have built EJ20 and EJ25 engines that have stood up to over 600hp in street cars, these are the same engines we offer to you.

Sorry to hear it Lee. I knew it would happen sooner or later after you told me the dyno numbers on the phone. It's just not mean to be with a stock EJ25.

Least you can join the club...you're not much of a car guy until you blown up at least one motor.

Engine build will start the first part of next week most likely, GT Motorsports is waiting on the 2.5L donor block that shipped out last Monday to them from Andrewtech.

I can't remember all the specs of the new motor, but it will be a stroker 2.8L shortblock with sleeved pistons and completely forged internals, race bearings, a custom built crankshaft with an 82mm stroke good for 800awhp, 2 103mm headgaskets, the whole 9. I'm really looking forward to it, I think they're going to put some kind of plate on it with the company's logo and some specs of the engine. More to come when it gets back to the east coast.

Just how much of this 800 awhp capacity do you plan on using Lee?
The car was fast as hell with how it was setup last time.
Oh, did the turbo survive the engine failure?

I'd like to keep it tuned to ~500whp or maybe a little less. The increase in torque should be the biggest difference with the new setup, it should be monstrous. Yeah, I think the turbo survived, I need to talk to Andrew when he gets everything apart though to make sure.

Both engines are on hoists right now, head studs retorqued on the new motor and it should be running by the end of the week! I'll probably get to drive it a little later after they put a few hundred miles on it. It's finally coming to a conclusion, can't wait to see what this thing is able to produce.
