You going with the ACT Chromoly flywheel or the Fidanza Aluminum one?

Pedal feel in the 2100 is not bad at all. Feels like a real clutch...not the wimpy shit they put in new cars now a days.

Personally I think the 2600 is the perfect clutch for an AWD DSM. I might even get one when I replace mine which won't be too soon.

The 2100 handled the 333 ft/lbs I put down on the dyno. I ran slightly more aggressive settings at the track and that clutch never gave me a slip. I'd deff say get it if you don't want the 2600 which takes a little getting used to.

I am getting the ACT chromoly flywheel. I am only going to be running my big 16g as ive turned into a corner junkie so all I need is that little more power so a 2100 is very good for what I was looking for. 2600 I think puts too much pressure on the main bearings and also around town would be more difficult to get used to and why take the risk when I dont need it? Thanks for your opinion..

breaking in this clutch is killing me. after a month of pussy-footing around because my old clutch was slipping like whoa, i want nothing more than to a nice, fat boosty-liscious surge through a few gears. this sucks.

it's easy to break something in when you have 50 lb. ft. of torque at max 8)

i installed my clutch in the 240 the weekend before driving CMP Big Grin. Held up fine and I've never had a single problem with it.

decided to finally do some DIY work on the airbox today (the kicker was the 80 degree temps this afternoon!). the stock box flows pretty well to begin with, but by removing all the baffling and crap, it will actually flow better than a cone filter...plus it recieves air through a ram at the leading edge of the hood, so it can get a cold air source.

here is the bottom portion of the stock airbox. look at all that junk. it's like a party in my airbox!1!1!!! up front is the coarse screen to catch big stuff, then bracing (no idea why it's there, the plastic of the box is rock hard) and a weird flappy thing towards the back.

here's the top half. it stayed unmolested for now, until i can get a flexible dremel attachment (more on that later)

damn Germans making everything so complicated. no clue why this is here. it's definitely not to prevent water congestion, because the main opening is higher up than this is. the spring that loads the flap is really stiff too, so i can't imagine the engine pulling enough vacuum to open it. so, out it goes.

the violators get the boot.

chiseling the reinforcements was way easier than using the dremel (quieter too). i also found that the angle of attack i had to take with my dremel was too steep....i'll have to get a flexible attachment later. this prevented me from doing anything to the bottom part of the lower airbox portion at all.

smoofed. had to use plain old sandpaper, so much for tearing it up with the dremel.

looking at the first shot it's easy to see how much clutter there was. while i was taking the airbox out i found some cold start emissions lines that had rotted out from the heat. those got cut and plugged. eventually i'll smooth the entire inside out, and make provisions to run the intake to either an NACA duct in the bumper, or to a passenger headlight housing that i will make into a ram air duct (like Dave's MkIV headlight).

from a brief drive, i've noticed that the engine sounds deeper and the bypass valve really lets out a nice wooooosh sound. so, ah....all i can say is that it's louder. without a boost gauge, i can't tell if my spool is sooner (if that's possible) or if i gained anything, but going from other A4 enthusiasts who have logged the results, it should be an improvement. down the road, when i go with a bigger turbo the new airbox should be a solid improvement over trying to maintain the use of the stock box.

oh noes! You removed the bracing, now your airbox will collapse!!! Confusedhock:

Do guys take out that upper air intake horn? The E30 box looks very similar, with a similar horn, and I've heard that it actually helps to leave it in there.

haha, if my turbo could collapse my intake i would be ecstatic

we leave the horn in. the stock setup is awesome, size wise. its just that the ridges mess up the airflow.

just as a vouch for Amsoil....

Eurotech Atlanta put it in my car during my clutch install because i had asked them to change the oil for me while they were at it. they put in Amsoil 5w30.

not only is the engine WAY quieter now, but it starts easier and my oil temps on the highway are down about 20 degrees according to my oil temp guage, which is pretty accurate from what i've read.

it does cost alot, but for my car to act so differently under the same circumstances that i drove my car with different oil before has me sold on Amsoil.....that stuff is awesome

Nice to see your car coming along nicely Scotty =D

It's fun to do those DIY things and know that your car is that much different from the next one you see on the highway.
