Mmm..... 3.0L V8 in one of those

That would be some shit! Problem is there isnt anything already in the General's production line that would fit well in the chassis.... just a bunch of truck engines

The N-Stars have been as small as 4.0, and there might be a 3.5L V8 floating around GM somewhere. It doesn't exist IN anything, but there was alot of talk about alot of Front-drive cars having this magic unicorn 3.5L V8, so I would assume that more than a couple of magazines talking about something would be not as much talking from the ass.

I'd love to see GM make a small, high revving V8, but I'm not sure they know how and it's too European for the marketing wizards to ever let us have anyway.

They should just steal the V8 from the radical Wink

GM has had some 268ci V8's before. They were pretty tiny...and from what i've read it was definately toe-toe with the miata.

Side note: How come I never hear anyone talking about the Cobalts? The SS version of that is supercharged and puts down a 13 second quarter. That's pretty quick for production car standards, especially that cheap

also: The base engine in the SS is the 171hp 2.4L, probably the same one going into the sky. The SC version is 205hp 2.0L..maybe that will go in the sky as well

It is still a Cadavalier... One of the worst and outdated cars currently produced IMO. Unless they updated the entire chassis and I didn't know about it, I stand by what I just said Smile

All this talk about V8s, but no talk about V6s? Sure a V8 in a tiny roadster would be cool, but don't you think the L67 or L32 (supercharged 3.8L V6) would be more likely to happen and still plenty fast?

I think they discontinued the 3.8 v6's. Also, it is an updated chassis. same one as the saturn ion is on now. cavalier = dead.

unless they discontinued it just this year.

The Ion chassis is the global "delta" platform, IIRC. Some opels, Cavalier, and some other small cars are built off it.

Would a V8 be lighter? Would it be easier to fit?

Now that I think about it, I may have been thinking about a different engine. GM has been working on a smallish V6 line between like 2.6L and 4.0L that is supposed to be pretty high-tech.

A small v6 would be nice, but a small displacement high revving v8 would just be way cool.

I think those 3.8's are going out of production this coming model year. I know the new monte carlos wont have them, so if they're still around, they'll likely be in the Impalas. But they also have several new small displacement v6's coming in too.
