I will say that the wheels look better in person for some reason. I'm not usually a fan of black wheels mainly due to that you mostly can't see their design in most light and I feel most of them just look like steelies; these don't look too bad. I really don't like black wheels with polished lips. I believe they weigh about 21.5lbs each, which is about 5 lbs lighter than the standard golf r Englishtown wheels.
Not sure what I'll do yet, but I am picking up a set of used mint Englishtown wheels tomorrow for a good price. I'll sell one of the sets in the coming months. Selling either set seems to not be an issue based on what I'm seeing in the market.

Don't listen to the person who sold a GTI to buy a truck. As a matter of fact, you're clearly on the opposite path.
I wouldn't buy black wheels, but they look pretty good with the tint and black mirrors.

Black pretorias > englishtown wheels.
5 lbs per wheel is a huge difference even ignoring the styling.

Why not buy aftermarket wheels? I don't actually mind the black wheels now and I typically share your dislike of black wheels. But those Englishtown wheels are downright ugly.

eh, i like the design. When the 2018 R came out i didn't like the design, but the more I've seen them in-person the more I've liked them. They are the OEM look and i'd like to at least have one set of wheels that came with this generation of car.
As for aftermarket i have thought about that and selling the Black Pretorias would yield more money for an aftermarket set or trading them for a Silver set. Or keep the Prets for a proper summer set. #wheellyfe

I really dislike the trend of painted wheel pockets these days. The wheels on my Accord add most Hondas now are the same style.

Some ideas (gold Pretorias) on a blue Golf r, but I also think gold looks sharp on red. More money to do this properly, so something for down the road (maybe).

Saw this car in person and I can say the black wheels actually look really good. Probably the only black wheels I've liked, so I'm going to stand firm on my "black wheels suck" stance.
Demounted the black Pretorias and bought a minty set of used oem mk7.5 golf r wheels (Englishtown / Spielberg).
I like the look a lot more. I'll be cleaning up the black Pretorias and attempting to sell them. If I don't get what I want then I'll likely just keep them and powder coat them a darker silver or something.
