Anyone here playing overwatch on PC? I don't really do competitive because the community is toxic as hell, but I've been playing a bunch of it otherwise.

I did several months back. But I have moved to other games. I'll play casual if I have a friend to play with. The game just gets boring to me otherwise.
Add me if you want, I play a good bit. I'm going by memory, but I think my account is Stvee#1621

I really enjoyed the open beta, but couldn't justify paying full price for it. I haven't paid over $20 for a game since I got my computer other than for Elite: Dangerous, so I'll just wait till it goes on sale. Idk how its gonna keep me coming back with no real "progression" or unlocks other than cosmetic stuff, since that's usually what keeps me interested in games.

I think it was on sale last weekend as well as letting everyone play for free over the weekend. The anniversary celebration is still going on so it might still be on sale.
It has a ton of depth since all of the characters play completely differently. I've been playing a bunch of the random hero mode lately so that I get fairly competent with all of the characters.

What's your name on battle.net? I've had a few people add me recently and I can't tell who they are by their names.

Steam summer sale is on, post whatever good deals you come across:
Portal 1 and 2 are absolutely worth a play through if you haven't yet. I might even go back and play them now since it's been long enough for me to forget the puzzles.
Portal 1 - 99 cents
Portal 2 - 2 dollars
Haven't played this yet, but I've heard its a steal for the price:
Shadows of Mordor - 3.99
2015 VW GTI | 2007 4Runner Sport

1995 Pontiac Firebird Formula | 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX | 1996 Pontiac Firebird
I'd definitely recommend Shadow of Mordor, great game especially for $4.
Arma 3 - $15 and the expansion and dlc is on sale too, I'd pick all of em up if you like Battlefield but want something more realistic. If you're a COD fan I'd stay away, its very slow paced compared to either of those but a good community and really satisfying when you get decent at the game and strategy.
Kerbal Space Program - $15 My most played game of all time, I have around 700 hours in it I think (steam doesn't track it the way I've launched it for the last two years) and has great replayability and modability.
Civ 6 and XCOM 2 - $41 bundle and those games usually don't go on sale, I've put probably 200 hours total between the two.
Prison Architect - $7 is definitely a good time killer.
FTL: Faster Than Light - $2.50 is a good 8 bit style strategy game.
Besiege - $5 looks like a fun time waster that I'll probably pick up along with both Portals.
Dirt Rally -$17 at 70% off is a great racing game if you have a wheel, I'd recommend it over dirt 4 unless they make some changes with difficulty to 4.

So my friend recently showed me a pretty cool home theater program called Kodi. I HATE my xbox one more with pretty much every update of the UI and it crashes pretty regularly. I was thinking about picking up a raspberry pi and using that instead. Has anyone had any experience with either the raspberryi pi or kodi?
I found this pretty good guide I was gonna follow to set it up as a HTPC. https://mediaexperience.com/raspberry-p ... h-raspbmc/
I'm kinda curious on how I'd use a remote for it, or should I get one of those remotes with a blackberry style keyboard, or if i should just get a wireless keyboard/mouse combo thing thats laid out similar to a laptop.
Also I'm not quite sure how I'd do live TV, I'm not sure if my new roommates have cable set up yet and I'm not sure how that would tie into this without buying some sort of whole home dvr thing.
I think it'd be a cool and fun project, and I could configure the UI exactly how I want instead of being stuck with microsoft screwing up the xbox more and more each day.

We've covered Kodi before actually. Just be careful, you are basically illegally streaming - which is different than just illegally downloading.
IMO Plex is way easier if you are okay with providing your own movies (however you choose to do so) - and it now offers it's own built in DVR functionality.

HTPC's are dead. With roku, apple tv, chrome/fire sticks, air play.... and anything you would ever want to watch is available streaming easily, there's no point any more.
HTPC was useful when the only way to get stuff was through torrent/newsgroups, but that ship has sailed. I get that its free, but even broke ass college kids can afford netflix.

Except that's wrong. All the streaming options are shit when it comes to new releases or non-standard programming (like UK F1). We had a week with Netflix streaming while on vacation and I honestly don't understand why people pay for it.

I'm pretty new around here so I must have missed what thread you covered Kodi in. I'm pretty familiar with streaming/torrenting and have a good VPN. I'll look into plex as I've never heard of that. I prefer to torrent things for the most part anyway for the higher quality and that was my main question about Kodi, since I didn't really see any options to do that.

I feel like the raspberry pi is basically an open source roku/firestick/chromecast anyway since its only $35. I want some sort of setup like this since for my apartment living room I'm using my 8 year old home audio receiver and flatscreen from my basement before we redid it. Its not a smart tv or smart receiver so I need some sort of way to watch stuff, and I don't really wanna pay for cable since I only would use it to watch live sports anyway. It just seemed like a good option since I can get everything I need for $75-$100 and its open source and somewhat expandable with the usb ports.

My family has netflix and other than their originals (which are getting better and more abundant) I dislike the selection, or I've watched all of the shows/movies I'm interested in. Since they're moving more towards their original content they've also removed a ton of great stuff on there.

We had it for a week and the only thing we watched that we hadn't already seen was four episodes of Stranger Things. Everything else was replay space filler. Same goes for Amazon... for the most part. The only reason we have that is because we have Prime shipping. Streaming definitely isn't there yet.
That said, I use for XB1 for all my non-streamed content.... so, I agree purpose built HTPCs are dying.

For motorsports, you're right. I use a private torrent site for F1/GP/Top Gear/etc and its been great - but I download to my laptop and stream to the TV. Dedicated HTPC isnt necessary any longer.

You don't need anything that crazy for Plex though. An old unused desktop will do - and then you can stream from anything (phone, ipad, laptop, etc.) Like your own personal Netflix.

What games are people playing on PC? Trying to see if people want to team up and play some stuff.
I play a range of games. For multiplayer ones right now I play Battlefield 1, CS:GO, H1Z1, Overwatch, a little of League but mostly ARAM, and I'm think about buying Player Unknown if I can find some people who play. I used to play ME: Andro online but the servers are horrid since they are player connection based.... Thinking of picking up Destiny 2 as it looks like fun.
