This thing turned out to be the most useful little paddock bike ever. I let Ryan and the rest of the crew use my truck to shuttle everyone and lots of beer around Hyperfest so I used to MMoped to scoot around and deliver things for NASA. The way it's wired up now, you just sit down, flip a switch, push the bike, peg the throttle and it'll fire up and start scooting along. Very convenient to hop on and go. I definitely need to fix the brakes and it seems to have leaked a lot of fuel in the bed of my truck on the way back, but I've got some time before Summit to fix it.

Can confirm, this thing rips, although it did take a chunk out of my leg trying to kickstart it. Also can do burnouts if its on the stand.

I can also confirm this thing needs the brakes fixed. It slows down pretty well when you let off the throttle though.

No coaster brakes you can lock up with the pedals and leave sweet skid marks?

It has front a rear brakes. The rear aren't very strong and the front isn't connected because the gear is stripped on the lever that turns the drum.

Does anyone know of a shop in Nova I could take this to and give them like $200 to fix some stuff on it? I really don't care enough to source the ancient parts and do it, but it's going to be another busy season of zipping around the paddock on it.

Taylor,

I know 2 guys in Harrisonburg that specialize in mopeds, they do not work on scooters. Pm me if you want and I can put you in touch with them.

Small update, Joey and I attempted to pull the motor or something and ended up just cleaning the carb, fixing the rear brake, and then reassembling the bike in what I can only assume is the wrong way. This was several weeks ago.

Today I figured I'd piddle in the garage and I somehow managed to cobble together the front brake mechanism. I had to take off the return spring, but It seems to return on its own just fine. The bike stops and goes just as well as I could hope from a cheap, no name moped.

Something I've noticed is that the forks are easily twisted/bent from where I backed into the moped with my Miata. Not sure if I should worry about it or not. I'll probably see if I can get the part number from James so I can replace the voltage regulator and get to lights and everything working. I'd like to find some turn signals as well.

So now that Taylor has fixed every little problem, I’ve taken advantage of his misfortunes to buy this.

Every time I've seen this moped, it's poured copious amounts of fuel everywhere. I may suggest fixing that before lighting.

So progress is being made. Cleaned the carb and ripped a fuel line in the process, so I gotta run to the store tomorrow and get new line + filter. Gonna order a petcock soon to hopefully stop the leak. That'll mean all new parts between the tank and the carb I think. Lost a little O ring on the banjo bolt on top of the carb so I had to order a whole new fitting. It was cheap, but of course I found the o ring as soon as the new one came in. There was a small thing that looked like a filter that was a different color in the old one, so that may have been gunked up anyway.

Ordered a set of 2 3x2 LED rock lights from amazon for an amazing $12. These are the "spot" kinda as I didnt want to blind anyone, but they're still bright as hell testing them with a 9v battery.

Here's where I'm gonna need help. I've never done any wiring other than sub installs, so I can't read a wiring diagram to save my life, and I don't think any of this wiring is the original colors anyway. I'll include pictures of the switches I need help with as well.

Here is a link to a wiring diagram I found that I think is close. https://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?6,3881817
Differences are (since they're not connected), no ignition (just the kill switch is wired), no tach, no odometer, no horn, and the brake light is 3 wires, not 4.

I took the headlight off and there was a rats nest of unconnected and cut wires, along with about 6 connectors, 3 of which were disconnected. I unpinned them all, fed them through the headlight, depinned the connectors, took the turn signal/headlight switch apart and found out where each wire goes. Here is a drawing of them

Since I don't have a high/low and its just a positive and negative to this light, I'd like to know which wires I need to attach to the positive and negative to turn the light on when the switch is in one position, and off when it is in the other.

I also did the turn signals, which I haven't had the motivation to try to find replacements for yet. This one is even more confusing.

Not gonna tackle this right now, just wanted to put it up here. I think the duplicates are because the old headlight assembly had an indicator light for when the high beams and the turn signals were on, but I could be wrong.

So currently all of the high beam turn signal and horn wires are depinned and rewrapped nicely in electrical tape. A new voltage regulator is on the way, but shipped from china and I didn't realize it. I'd like to sort this wiring out soon so when that gets here I can just splice that in and be able to see at night. It seems a whole lot more manageable than it did at first after I ripped apart all the random ground wires going everywhere and took out the wires from the connectors in the old headlight assembly that I won't be using. Now its only 12 or so wires instead of like 30.

Also, yes the moped is in my living room right now.

I hope this all works out. As far as I know, everything worked until the lack of a functioning voltage regulator caused everything to blow out when James went down a hill too fast. Just remember, there is no battery, so nothing will work unless the bike is running.
