"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I paid $50, cause it wasnt the standard garage door opener that was included with the house.

But I think you can get the kit with the overhead light, garage mount button, 2 clickers, and the lock for like $250-300

The angle.....

Some garage doors are parallel to the ground when in the open position. With this opener the door has to be at a like 10/15 degree slope so that gravity is always pulling the garage door towards the closed positon. This applies constant tension on a cable that is used to open the door. Without this angle, the door may not naturally go down and the cable has the potential to unwind from the spool and allow the door to slam shut potentially causing injury. Where a traditional opener is pushed down by the arm on an overhead door opener.

If your door is not like this, you'll need some "helper springs" that go at the end of the tracks that will constantly put force on the door towards the closed position.

Hope that makes sense, I need more pictures...

Add $300 in labor because Chris doesn't do this sort of thing.

Just installed 2 of them my garage (damn you double doors). Really easy to install and super quiet.

Annoying because you have to buy the "gateway" to open/monitor with your phone. Some of the features seem a little gimicky but I absolutely needed it because I moved my doors all the way to the ceiling.

I hate all the attachments so I may be wiring a couple things up to get rid of all the mess of wiring it comes with.

Got the roof box back (was still at my parent's place) for a trip. Back from the trip but no place for it yet in the garage. After 2 weeks of driving around with it on the car I got tired of losing all the MPGs.

Not but really, it needed to get off my car. Although it was super easy with it on the roof to spot in a sea of silver Prius (Prii?) in a parking lot.

So, decided to give a $30 kayak rack from Dick's a try.

Worked like a charm.

that worked out awesome! jealous. we had to build a hanging 2x4 frame to lay our roofbox on because its shaped more like a wedge so it has to lay on its bottom.

Sweet! Storage over the garage door is the way to go. I built two 4X8 platforms on each side of my garage above the door.

So finally got around to snagging some frosted tint from Lowes. Given the amount of money in my garage, and random construction folks putting up the 2 houses next door I stopped procrastinating.

I think it turned out ok, I have one crease that may cause me to peel it all off and start over. [Image: 0f4c74f2c567d43341d36e0bbaaca7a6.jpg][Image: ad806a43b5b290d43186e77a9c6e0ef1.jpg]

I just got done putting up some of that privacy film that is actually a static-cling thing. No adhesive required - seems like it works pretty decent so far.

Welp....still digging the house, 2 years in.

Still no paint, or extra lighting.

But the new roof box had to find a home that did not involve sitting on saw horses. It was too wide for where the old box was.

So a couple of $ .97 hooks and a $10 piece of 3/4 x 3ft aluminum tubing clamped on....

that's a pretty genius way to mount the box for storage. we have ours hanging on a little frame i made out of 2x4's and its neither easy to get the box up there or easy to live with, with it dangling 6 inches above our heads. i might need to try your way out.
