I think the Mustangs new styling will change this. I mean, its already growing on me as a "would drive" and I've never said that about a Mustang before. BMW still has the edge tho...
Oh and the M3/M4 are aesthetically beautiful. Specifically, the front. I just really hope they give it a loud exhaust cause the M5 was disappointing.
Cosmetics aren't going to overcome a $40k price gap. Someone in the market for an $80k M3 is going to cross shop C63s, Cayman Ss, S4s, etc, not American mullet mobiles.

I noticed that it looks like the new mustang doesn't have brembos in the back, again. On the old model they couldn't because of it having a live rear axle, but now they have no excuse. For some reason, it really annoys me not to have matching brakes.

Heavy, numb steering (a complaint by many magazines on the new 3 series, a BMW SPECIALTY), make it technology laden and expensive. Oh good, I get to go to the dealer to have my battery reflashed to my ecu for $350.
Good luck getting one out the door for less than $75k. It has never been a cheap car but nor has it ever even been close to 911 territory.
Edit: and oh yeah, it is hideous. Hope it looks better in person. Yeah BMW has been going backwards on steering feel with the most recent cars from what I hear. I haven't driven any of the current gen bimmers though (not in the market) so I can't really say for myself.
As for the increasing luxo electro fuckwaddery, BMW's been going down that road for a long time, at least since the E36 days. Luxury customers always want the car to do more stuff for them and every luxury car maker obliges. At least the 3 series and M3 got lighter for a change.

I'm thrilled enough that it's down in weight!
At the moment, I can't look past the square type things in the lower corners of the rear bumpers housing the reflectors. Other than that...looks good but not great - though I bet it has a lot of presence in person and will be totally different.

Looks good, but looks a bit slab-sided to me, not sure if I'm going to like this one in person. Right now I can't say I like it more than the Gallardo.

I like it way better than the gallardo. The gallardo was always a bit plain for me, speaking relatively to lamborghinis of course. Lambos are supposed to be a little crazy visually.

6:12 "The transmission"
Ok, you can get a CVT or manual. Hey, if I had to have an auto, CVT is pretty cool.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE
You can put it in a sport mode that makes it act like an 8-spd and it shifts super fast! The guy is all excited.
?
I bet that's slower than the regular CVT mode.
Why would a buyer of an automatic car want it to pretend like it's shifting, something the buyer clearly doesn't care about. :dunno: Let the CVT be awesome and keep the engine boiling in sport mode, but don't "shift". :vomit:
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a van is a good guy with a van
BLINGMW Wrote:Why would a buyer of an automatic car want it to pretend like it's shifting, something the buyer clearly doesn't care about.
 I like my pretend shifting.
But yeah, I agree. I still don't understand the appeal of the CVT, I get the whole holding it in the sweet spot thing but it doesn't seem like it would be nearly as satisfying, I also don't like the lack of subaru warble. It does seem like a really nice car to drive and a big performance improvement on the last generation. I don't want one, but it seems nice.
