Really want one of these.

Maybe if we can hold off on another car purchase until the fall, I'll have the wagon paid for and some money set aside.  I saw one at carmax for $23k but it was gone the next day, I think it wasnt priced correctly.  I'd happily add on their warranty at that price.

Does anyone in MM have first hand experience with Carmax warranties? I’m sure 90% of people here have read Doug Demuro’s “reviews” of them, but reading around online makes them seem like as big of a PITA as any other aftermarket warranty.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

You used to get so H&B'ed about C6 Z06's until you saw premature creasing & wear on the shitty GM leather (lol).  So....get you a C6 Z06 (or hell, ZR1) and swap the seats:

Hi Dad, is this you?

My Dad has been through I think over 50 vehicles in his life time at this point...

Edit: Do you like a perpetual state of car payments? That doesn't sound like fun to me.

Those seats are so money.

The Corvette has always been there but yeah the seats and overall interior and build quality has always been suspect.  Plus, ideally I'd like a car with AWD and some kind of ground clearance (even though I've looked at some options that have neither of those things) or at least something that isn't going to go crazy tail happy and try to kill me.

That is accurate, I have never owned a 2 seater sports car.  Just some tuned Japanese rockets and fast luxo-barges.  I prefer the utility of 4 doors even in a sporty / high horsepower vehicle

I've always looked at vehicles as a commodity so car payments have never been a concern for me.  Everybody has hobbies that they delegate their fun money to, cars have always been one of them for me.  I'm getting away from that more as I inch toward 40 but the itch of having something fast and fun as a way to blow off steam does creep back sometimes.

Which means I'll probably have an F-Type this time next year

Big Grin

If it happened it would most likely be a V6 S.  The AWD F-Types haven't dropped in price enough for me to consider the boosted V8 versions.  Everything I've read is that the V6 S is a much more livable car than the V8 S variant in RWD form.  380hp plus the possibility of a pulley swap and tune if things get boring is more than enough for that little car!

Just because I've heard this from you and a few others...

Why not spend $OneWatch of money on two NASA HPDE weekends at VIR and learn how to drive and control your beastly RWD whatever-the-hell fun car? Cars respond to inputs, they don't do stuff entirely on their own, and it's a shame to stick with AWD/never disable the traction control because "something could happen."

as long as its not a Mustang, you're probably right.

I mean my Jag was 510hp and RWD and I was fine with it, but it also wasn't kicking out the ass end at every stop light like I've heard the V8S RWD F-Types do (or Vettes).  I was telling someone about my experience test driving a 2012 GT500 and I can't see how people drive those things, it was losing the rear end in every gear....I don't care how many omgracekar events you have under your belt, that thing was just a neanderthal to drive.

The AWD for me is more about instant off the line traction without having to feather the throttle.  But also more about traveling back up north where we have run into inclement weather a lot.  I didn't bother bringing the Jag up to WV to see my wife's family (even though the actual highways are epic and twisty) but if I had an S4 I probably wouldn't have had an issue with it

Can confirm, the Z06's TC responds very well to ham-fisted driver inputs. I'm still here typing so I wouldn't let that deter you, plus tires are awesome now. Get a Z06 c'mon do it.

Just to make sure I'm not missing anything.... What are you guys using to do car searches?

My searches run through Autotrader and Cars.com, any good search engines I am missing?

CarGurus helped my last few searches (E46 M3, F150, Range) but I ended up finding the E46 on E46Fanatics, and the Ford/RR on AutoTrader at dealerships.

I've noticed nothing is consistent, some stuff shows on Cars and not on AT, vice versa. CarGurus seems to have a good merge of Cars/AT.

The amount of laziness in postings is comical. I have to rely on pics and/or a BMW VIN decoder to see what a car has.

Plus, how hard is it to load up some pics not taken with a potato.
