<--- Marathon training. With rare exception, I'm only free to do anything other than run on Mondays.
On the subject of mountain biking, I did a 12hr race a few weeks back: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.iammike.org/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1214706237&archive=&start_from=&ucat=2&">http://www.iammike.org/index.php?subact ... m=&ucat=2&</a><!-- m -->

Ole Wrote:What should I look for? I would like a decent bike to ride around the neighborhood and do some easy trails. I don't want nor need the top of the line type. Just something respectable. I asked the same question several months ago and ended up buying a Giant Rincon from Element Sports in Winchester. So far, I like it...but after getting some seat time on it, I can only imagine how much better a more performance oriented bike would be. I think the only real modification I want to make to the bike in the next month or so is more street-friendly tires. Now my only problem is that I can't find enough time to ride because of my new job. I'm usually only able to go out of the neighborhood and ride once or twice a week :? Forget your street friendly tires, come ride off road with us. A good set of shoes and pedals, and that thing should do fine to come out.

I'd like to, but I only have Mondays and Tuesdays off...plus I'm all the way up here in Inwood, WV.
At the moment, I'd just slow you guys down anyway. I'd like a little more time to condition before I come out with a group!

RJ shared TWO on the ride before last! You'll be in good company. We don't need to hammer out to have fun, so there's no reason to feel intimidated. Wakefield's fine for a beginner, and there could be five of us if Mikey and Evan can both come.

Tomorrow at 6:30pm at Difficult Run (meeting at the Reston indoor ice skating rink parking lot, since the trailhead is there [off Michael Faraday drive & Sunset hills]). Trail is mildly entertaining, but not really technical.
I guess we'll also do a mountain ride on Monday. I'd like to go to a different spot, maybe Wakefield. Finally, RJ and I are doing road rides most nights of the week... if anybody wants to jump in on one, just tell either of us so we can give you the night's ride.

are any of your road rides within 5-10 miles of DC?

mrbaggio Wrote:are any of your road rides within 5-10 miles of DC? Sure, mostly on the W&OD and arlington trails. I dont play in traffic much though, if thats what you're looking for. A few times a month I'll ride down through clarendon on wilson and back on the custis trail along 66 but thats the extent of my 'off paved trails' road bike riding. |
