Mountain Bikes - Ole - 07-07-2008 What should I look for? I would like a decent bike to ride around the neighborhood and do some easy trails. I don't want nor need the top of the line type. Just something respectable. Re: Mountain Bikes - ScottyB - 07-07-2008 Ole Wrote:What should I look for? I would like a decent bike to ride around the neighborhood and do some easy trails. I don't want nor need the top of the line type. Just something respectable. my dad is in the same boat. came from a mountain bike background (had one of the first cannondales) but now just rides around the neighborhood to keep the blood flowin i guess. he is looking for a new bike and was all about a mountain bike but i asked him how much trail riding he does and it was basically "none." maybe a cross bike? what kind of trails, are we talking like old railroad bed trails or stuff with roots/rocks? - Ole - 07-07-2008 Roots, rocks, liberals etc. FWIW: I am 6'2" if that means I need a certain size. I see some 26" and 4.5? (what is this 4.5?) - .RJ - 07-07-2008 I've been riding out in reston a few times a month after work - come join the fun
- Evan - 07-07-2008 Trek for life! ps- the duallie should be for running over liberals. if you try to run over a liberal on a bicycle then he will think you are coming on to him. you probably want around a 19" frame - .RJ - 07-07-2008 Evan Wrote:Trek for life! +1 When are you going to wipe the dust off your bike and come ride? - Evan - 07-07-2008 Alan I would recommend this bike http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/20 ... ries/6000/ but I also know how stingy you are, so you could go with this http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/20 ... ries/4500/ but anything lower end is going to start falling apart on any kind of real trail - Evan - 07-07-2008 .RJ Wrote:Evan Wrote:Trek for life! whenever you guys stop playing with the fag bikes and go ride some real trails!

Enough time to head towards great falls and back. - Ginger0 - 07-07-2008 I think Wednesday may be no good. Tuesday, Thursday? - .RJ - 07-07-2008 I've got PT tues/thurs after work. - Evan - 07-08-2008 what you guys thinking for friday? wakefield? fountainhead? fountainhead would probably suck due to traffic i wonder if my bike is so rusted it wont move :p - .RJ - 07-08-2008 Reston -> Great falls http://trails.mtbr.com/cat/united-state ... 85crx.aspx - Evan - 07-08-2008 cool. looks like its a good warmup trail for someone who hasnt ridden in years :p - Ginger0 - 07-08-2008 Yeah, it's not bad at all. It's definitely several clicks below fountainhead... maybe about on par with wakefield. I can take a look at your bike on like, Thursday afternoon if you want. - Evan - 07-11-2008 fun stuff ![]() i sure was huffin and puffin on the way back though! - .RJ - 07-11-2008 I didnt crash  - Evan - 07-12-2008 I thought I heard you say "if you crash in the woods and no one is around to see it, did it really happen" ? - .RJ - 07-12-2008 See, it didnt happen :dunno:  |
