Another one I just thought about, I absolutely love the sound of a nice 3.5" true dual exhaust on a Chevelle SS 396 V8. Makes me smile every time.

its not the car dummy, its the exhaust. SM exhausts are made for the absolute maximum horsepower to tweak out of the car, which turns out to be low backpressure and not much muffler.

hehe, now that i think about it, every miata with an exhaust that i've heard has been either SM or race tweaked. durrrrrr :wink: it just cracks me up that they're easily as ear-splitting as an uncorked V8 on track

and seriously i would put a straight pipe 12A or 13B on deck for worst/loudest exhaust sound ever

I think high compression 4cyls and rotaries are WAY louder and grating than an open pipe V8

i kind of agree. The v8's are super loud to the point where you can feel them go by, but the most ear-splitting car i ever heard was the yellow turbo FD on VIR's back straight at Corner 6 and a blue/black integra with a side-outlet exhaust at Station 9 at Summit's back straight....both were pretty f-ing loud and not quite pleasant.

There's a difference between noise level, and pitch.

and I can't help but love the RGV500.

There was an E30 autox vid posted here a few weeks back and it's exhaust note was pretty damn amazing.

The E46 M3 on the other hand sounds like something is loose/rattling when it gets all revvy..

I dunno about you guys, but a nascar 350 with open headers sounds pretty effin awesome. I had my 350 uncorked for about 4 days before I managed to fab up some exhaust stuff on the original exhaust, and it made me smile every time I started it up

Yeah it does, I prefer my dunk because its quieter. A guy was going to trade me his thermal for my stock exhaust but I didnt want something that loud.

VR6 baby.. r 32- same thing.. whats even better is a vr6 on boost

also love a lot of nice sound 6 bangers (supras, 350z and G's, etc etc)

can beat the exhaust note on a VR though.. and the intake sound is just as sexy
