Best sounding exhaust note??? - ultimagtrlover - 02-28-2006 So, we have a "favorite factory wheels" thread, so why not a "favorite exhaust note" thread? For me, a good sounding engine can do a whole lot to get me attatched to a car. Well, my favorite exhaust note comes from the Pagani Zonda F. Here is a video of it: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... &q=zonda+F listen to the music of the engine!! - G.Irish - 02-28-2006 Hmm my fav engine sounds would have to be: *Ferrari flat crank V8's (360 and 355 especially) *C5-R *RC166 (250cc 6 cylinder 1960's race bike): http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... &q=moto+gp *V-Twin sport bikes (Ducati 998, 999, or Honda RC51) *Yamaha M1 *RE Amemiya JGTC RX-7 (20B) - Goodspeed - 02-28-2006 C5 Corvette w/ Corsa titanium exhaust http://www.corsaperf.com/flashc5-titanium.htm Turbo inline 6 with 4" straight pipe, mufflerless exhaust http://www.dryblaze.web-uploader.com/HPD%20-%20Andrew.mov - BLINGMW - 02-28-2006 I can't speak much for supercars, I've not seen enough of them. And of course 7+ liter 10+ cyl engines sound incredible, that's easy! So I'll go with the only car that has impressed me in real life: 350Z/G35 And the most impressive street car w/ aftermarket exhaust: E28 535i or E34 M5, I can't decide. - JustinG - 02-28-2006 American Muscle w/ a lumpy cam http://exhaustsoundclips.com/phpbb2/dload.php?action=category&cat_id=14 2G DSM with O2 dump and some kinda exhaust http://www.twingles.com/ideck/mpg/dregrowl.avi V10 F1 Car http://www.f1racing.net/en/v10.wma - JustinG - 02-28-2006 BLINGMW Wrote:350Z/G35 I love their stock exhaust - Yahosh - 02-28-2006 white97dsm Wrote:V10 F1 Car http://www.f1racing.net/en/v10.wmaI LOVE that sound, wish they weren't going to V8s... The M3 GTR race car is definately one of my favs: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 1&q=bmw+m3 - Feersty - 02-28-2006 No one has said it yet but I will, VW R32. Heard it a few times, man is it cool. - Evan - 02-28-2006 My 3 favorite on track exhaust notes that I have heard in person on track: STi (w/ exhaust) NSX SL 65 with honorable mention to a 355 challenge car - Ryan T - 02-28-2006 Nothing like an LS1 flowing through a nice set of Borla's...... - .RJ - 02-28-2006 Evan Wrote:with honorable mention to a 355 challenge car http://tubas.net/~ryanj/F355clip1.mpeg (right click, save as) - CaptainHenreh - 02-28-2006 Maybe I'm crazy, but as far as a stock exhaust note, I've heard some fantastic noises coming from E36's. But if we're going with something with an aftermarket exhaust, I loooooooooooove the sound of a Subaru/Porsche H6. My SVX sounded like an angry dog. I loved it. - ScottyB - 02-28-2006 My favorite sounds are pretty diverse 1. Mazda 787B 4 rotor 2. Audi 2.2L I-5 turbo 3. VW R32 VR6 4. Chevy LS1 (preferrably with a fat cam) honorable mention: Honda S2000 F20C with ITB's i'll put some sound clips up when i'm back from work i think the worst sounding car ever has to go to any Miata with an exhaust. i hate to say it because i like the car but man.....and they're so loud too! what gives!? - Ryan T - 02-28-2006 ScottyB Wrote:i think the worst sounding car ever has to go to any Miata with an exhaust. i hate to say it because i like the car but man.....and they're so loud too! what gives!? I dunno man, I've heard some 1.5l civics and ford probes with an exhaust that sounded worse than a miata. Properly done I think a miata can sound pretty mean. - Mike - 02-28-2006 probe sounds so money! what are you talking aboot? - Evan - 02-28-2006 ScottyB Wrote:i think the worst sounding car ever has to go to any Miata with an exhaust. i hate to say it because i like the car but man.....and they're so loud too! what gives!?its not the car dummy, its the exhaust. SM exhausts are made for the absolute maximum horsepower to tweak out of the car, which turns out to be low backpressure and not much muffler. Also some guys are cheap and just run a straightpipe, which sounds HORRIBLE on any 4 cyl. Listen to a straightpipe RX7 sometime, the absolute worst ear bleeding sound i have ever heard - G.Irish - 02-28-2006 Evan Wrote:Listen to a straightpipe RX7 sometime, the absolute worst ear bleeding sound i have ever heard x 10!!! - CaptainHenreh - 02-28-2006 This is gonna sound really stupid, but dad's muffler broke last year, and the 3 cyl sounded kind of cool. It had a very interesting note. - Mike - 02-28-2006 seems like a common problem with metros. 9/10 that i see on the road have no exhaust. either they have the worst metal compound possible for the exhaust from the factory, or their owners are too cheap to get them fixed. my guess is a little bit of both - CaptainHenreh - 02-28-2006 Agreed. They're not exactly high quality, but I really can't complain. It gets me where I need to go, and for cheap. 200 dollar car + 30 dollars in parts = 40ish MPG, starts every morning. |
