Measured distance = 3.2miles? Big Grin

I'd want to test mine so bad at a track some time heh.

Some notes from the folks at Cobb, the tuning company that created my engine management:

"The follow maps have been updated:

2002-2005 Subaru WRX
Speed Limiter removed for all transmission types (including Auto)"

Now, the older versions also had this feature which simply prevented the ECU from turning off boost control at a certain speed.

Trey @ Cobb on the new revisions:
"Manuals were limited to approximately 158mph and Autos were limited to 130 mph. I think this was pretty much only active on the autos. Basically what we did was change it so it no longer had any limit. In the ECU, the maximum value you could have set it for was 255 km/h (158mph). I changed it so it never limits [period]. Basically eliminated the limitation of what the maximum value could be set for."

Any guesses what mph my turbo and / or engine would explode at ?

So what kind of number do you put down?

That is fine, my car is pretty much made for the track. Though I never have drove on one, that would probably make me suck.

You gotta understand where were coming from, dog. When you say fast cars, hell my Buick could be fast if an excellent driver is in the seat. Our club is heavy in road racing, autocross, karting. Where the best cars are not the ones that cost 50 G's but the ones that are nimble with driver skills to go along with them. When you say you drive an automatic vehicle, obviously you are unable to push the car to its maximum ability. The word "fast" is in the eye of the beholder.

Have yet to dyno, but supposed to be 285ish at the crank. From other's numbers with similar setups, 0-60 is 4.6ish and 1/4 mile is 13.0-13.5. Cobb's stage 2.5 setup should put me at 320hp and into the 12s. I've debated going huge with an 18g or FP Green turbo, a custom tune, and even a crate motor swap if 2006 doesn't produce any shining import stars that attract my fickle attention 8)

If you've got the money, I'll get something 'fast' and come meet up with you sometime.

Is that what you are looking for?

Never in a million will your Buick be fast.

New guy, meet Travis (KPWserpiente)/GS-T guy.
You'll develop a strong opinion of T one way or the other. He doesn't allow for middle ground.

Everyone else, lay off new guy. I'm assuming he's in H.S. When I was in High school, I thought we could put a Porsche motor into my buddy's Jetta cause they shared the same corporate office.

Eh, swap in a small block 302, take out all rusted suspension parts, be amazed.

so you should have said "my buick could be fast if you threw in a big motor, got rid of the cheese suspension, and gave it a good driver"?

welcome Dex, I'm Dave.
My cars are not fast, in fact most are peices of junk.
I drive them like they are fast and therefore people tend to think they are fast.
That is the gist of what Travis was saying. My cars are slow, but driven correctly may appear to be fast. Shit, RJ impressed me on several occaisions slinging that stupid lunchbox around.
I will tell you this. One ride with me in my supra and you might second guess how slow an NA supra really is. As uppity as that might sound, that is what I've been told by others, so it isn't my own opinion.
We welcome you to the club and would love to have you come up and meet us at our car show next month. That would be a terrific time to intro yourself and that whiney little b00sted wankel of yours, and get to know some of us in the club at the same time.

BTW, I've love FD's, so that wasn't an attack on your car.

Mount it backwards - duh 8)

And, welcome to JMU, Mr. Too-Good-For-Pistons Wink Nice first post  Glad to see another victim of b00st rot... You'll find that this club is far more about the drivers than the cars - hence the slogan "The James Madison Drivers Club". Just something to remember when reading all of the responses here...

fast drivers make slow cars into fast cars (within reason)
#34

Fast cars can also make slow drivers look fast.

Me and my sentra

I'm a slow driver in a slow car... life sucks for me.

Thats cool, I am an alright driver, and to the guy how said automatics don't give the car it's full potential, maybe not it's full, but the Stand-Alone ECU let's me control whatever. Shift points at 8000 in an auto? Anyway, nice to meet you guys. I would come to the car show but I already had plans to go to NOPI on that day with some of my drag racing friends. Maybe I will make it to something else you guys have.

You spent enough money and time to put in a standalone ECU and didn't bother to put in a manual transmission? For shame...

Welcome to MM.

I am 99.9% sure I have the lowest HP rating in the entire club. (Save, of course, those relying on footpower) It'd be nice to have a few more drag racing enthusiasts here to balance out the club. So, welcome. Smile
