Yeah Jeff (TOV) talked to some of the American Honda execs about some of the overheating stories on the internet and they said that the car should not be overheating at all with track use. They tested them extensively at their desert facility so that they'd stand up to track work.

Might be an production issue for some folks. If so, hopefully it was addressed by the time mine was made. One reason I'm kinda glad I got a 2018.

That dude who we all spent two weeks discussing his passing procedure had something that said the car overheated unless the heat was on full blast. I think it was a comment on the video or something.

Yeah style-wise I feel like it's a bit over the top for me now.  But I'm a longtime Honda fan and it fits my current needs.   In person I don't find it as outrageous really.

I saw a blue one yesterday with aftermarket wheels (matte black), possible ADV.1s and it looked great. I really want to drive one of these or at least go for a ride. Chris Harris absolutely loved it and said it may even be better than the Focus RS despite only being FWD.

So my 2nd baby came a few weeks early and kinda threw all kinds of stuff into disarray, least of all posting on MM. I've got the CTR broken in, and I'm pretty happy with the power delivery on this thing. It feels strong from when boost picks up, all the way through redline with no major dips or hiccups in between. You don't get that big hit of initial boost (like on my WRX), but you also don't feel like it's running out of breath up top.

The transmission is typical Honda, but not S2000-level good. I think I need a more viscous tranny fluid to get the silky smooth shifts I desire. Not bad by any means, just that there is some room for improvement.

Handling wise it is a lot of fun to lean on it in corners, although I can't really do a ton of that in the winter. These tires are useless in even cool weather so the car is always cartoonishly spinning up under power. I wanted to get some winter tires and wheels but now I'm kinda wondering if it'll be worth it. In about 2 months it'll be warm again and time to take them off.

On the other hand if I get a set of 18's now I can slap some track tires on there. I'm leaning towards getting some cheap 18's like some Enkei RPF1's and rolling with the Pirelli Sotto Zero III's or Michelin Alpin's.

Funnily enough, Civic Si's and hot hatch guys are always waving and giving thumbs up (or revving at me ). Definitely gets more attention than the M3 or Cayman ever did.

Shit I'd love some ADV.1s but they're too rich for my blood at the moment.  Even I would feel kinda silly putting $5000 worth of wheels on a $35000 car.  Maybe when I get my next P-car or something.

So how does the balance feel in the cold on sporty tires, or really, in general? Leaning more towards oversteer or understeer? Is it controllable at all with throttle input, or does the turbo make it somewhat unpredictable? I’ve only every drive older big turbo cars which basically act like an on/off switch, not so much a refined turbo setup. Is the LSD pretty effective at power distribution or do you find yourself wishing it was better?

Congrats on reproducing again! Hope everything went smooth with an early delivery. I'm just here enjoying the Q &A but have no specific questions of my own at this time.

hey congrats buddy! we were in the same boat, 3 weeks early with ours. it does some fun stuff to your scheduling doesn't it?

i love RPF1's for any occassion. they'd look awesome, especially in a dark anthracite with that white paint. proceed, sir.

It felt fairly neutral the one time I got to take a brisk jaunt down a backroad on a warm day.  It corners pretty flat, probably flatter than my M3, and when you get on the power the limited slip kinda pulls you through at a decent angle.  

The wheelspin is controllable, it's just kinda violent because the tires are really unsuited for cold weather.  So it's not so much a squeal as it is stuttering across the pavement.

Boost doesn't come on violently though, it ramps up nice and cleanly without that on-off switch thing going.

good tuners are pulling ~360whp out of these things. 390 on E30 gas.

just the tune on 92 and already a 70whp boost. nothing else, totally OEM. straight bananas and i honestly have to wonder if its wasted at that point on a FWD car unless you plan to pull a DJ and drive on slicks everywhere.

I've seen some of those tunes but right now I kinda feel like it doesn't need more power.  Maybe if there's little wheelspin in the warmer months would I consider a tune.  I'd also want to see if I have any problems with heatsoak on track before I add more power.

Haha that is exactly how about 75% of conversations with random people about my motorcycle go.  "How fast have you gone?"  "I did 200 mph on my R6."  "My friend has a turbo Busa but he in a wheelchair now."

Yeah I'll be driving the CTR tomorrow.  Although the Odyssey does have heated seats and a heated steering wheel...
