I said that too, about my Miata. Life has a way of telling you when it's time to do things and it was time to move on.
If you can save up over the summer and buy something a bit more expensive ($1500 or so?) you could still keep the truck and have a fun project that wouldn't be nearly as much of a heap.

Yeah, um, he's full of it. All-Trac ST205's came with a 3S-GTE (a 2.0 turbo) all 'round the world. But we never got it.
Run far away from this car, don't look back.
edit: if you really really want a celica, take your time and search for a really really nice ST185 All-Trac. Even if it didn't run, I'd be real tempted to buy one of those. Rare, cool, and fairly reliable, all things considered.
Ahh toyota, back when they used to make cool stuff.
What are the chances of me even finding one of those? A little Celica with 235 HP? Yes please.

Well, they're all pretty difficult to find, bro. But they're out there. Saw a 6th gen the other day for 4 grand. Obviously, it was gone pretty quickly, but if a body had cash in hand...

Old Japanese cars are the prettiest cars ever.
Having replaced not one, but TWO 2.2 liter engines in the same celica (oh and an axle. and a bunch of other shit) for a guy I know, I can tell you you don't even want to touch this shit.
A) I'm a Toyota mechanic and I have access to a lift and all the tools necessary to replace the engine. Still a huge pain in the ass.
B) Good luck finding an engine that ain't wasted in some way or another. Usually they pop head gaskets and warp the head, and at the point just put a used engine in it.
C) One of the best techs I work with just bought one and has spent the last month trying to figure out WTF is wrong with it.
If it doesn't run correctly or needs to be towed home the day you lay your cash down, don't touch it.

That 5th Gen All Trac is titties. Tittiness aside, I'll just echo everyone else. You'll just automotively blueball yourself if you buy a car without the money to repair it. Lots of us crusty old alumni have project cars and daily drivers now, and even with full time salaries your car still ends up sitting in a broken heap for months on end.
In school I'd keep it to one car, or maybe two very, very cheap ones. You always want to leave a wide margin for ownership costs so repairs and insurance don't bleed out the rest of your cash. College is fun, but if you're always flat broke its hard to take advantage of it. My only regret is since I was always throwing my last dollar into the BMW or a motorcycle, I never did a spring break trip or anything.

It's so cool hearing everyone's stories about this. I WILL have two vehicles at one point, because I love this truck, but I need something fun. I'll just go cheap when I have more money.

Yo if you can pull of working on two cars at the same time while in school then
I'm not even talking monetary i just mean plain time, I can barely get to my one car....
edit: but then again i guess they'll be toyota's so maybe things will go wrong less? More time to mod and not fix lol

I'm not pressured to get anything done. I just do when I can. At the moment, I have nothing to do, and I just want something to work on.
