So I wasn't initially a fan of the '16 Tacoma in pictures, but someone in my office park picked up a TRD Off Road and I scoped it out. It looks great, especially parked next to a <'16 MY nearby. To the configurator, and you can spec a 4 door/V6 Off Road with a 6 speed manual? Toyota, I'm....impressed! The want is strong.

You don't actually want it, trust me. The seating is horrible, there is no chance you will get comfortable in it for short drives and definitely not for long ones.

There are a LOT of Toyota people that came over to the Colorado/Canyon side because of the seating issues. That, and the worse fuel mileage, lower power, rear drum brakes and less comfortable ride.

I really wanted to like the Tacoma and I would have honestly bought one if the seats were better, inferior powertrain and brakes aside. The interior in the Limited is much improved, there are a lot of little cool things about the truck and I have liked all of the Yotas I have owned. But not being able to adjust the seats up and down (or really much at all) in the highest trim level you can possibly get is a deal destroyer. This thing would literally break your back on drives longer than an hour or so.

I agree 100% All Tacomas have the worst ride ever. I want to think I'd buy a new one, especially because I'm a Toyota fanboi, but I don't know if I could. Then again, I don't think the stock suspension would stay long. The seating position in Toyotas is the most odd feeling. I've gotten used to it, but it also means I feel out of place in all other cars. It's like lying down on the floor and sitting straight up at the same time.

The power train and drum brakes thing don't bother me. Toyotas have, forever and ever, been unpowered in the name of reliability. I don't need to tow a house with my truck, but it'll last forever. I guess buying new means not caring about the vehicle at 200,000 miles, but I'm sure those 3.6's will be still chugging along.

You're mostly wrong but the upper part of the center console is abysmal. Did they grab parts out of the dodge/Chrysler drawer?

the whole thing looks like pep boys attacked a nice car. i get that it's real carbon fiber fancy bits, but it creates a package that looks like poor tuner garbage.

Jalopnik has pretty much completely jumped the shark these days but this article about that GT2 still hits it on the nose.

I think in the next 3-5 years these cars are gonna come crashing back down in value now that everyone that has dragged theirs out of the shed and slapped it up for sale with crazy expectations.

Good.
