nah its recent stuff. its a second-owner car, so i interpret the story as the guy got lucky and found this original-owner garage queen, immediately started modding it since it was such a clean platform, and then realized he was better off selling it for a nice chunk of change than abusing it/piling the miles on it and devaluing it completely like every other old STi.
JPolen01 Wrote:$27k doesn't seem like a crazy price either for such low miles.
nobody (except Maeng) leaves these things relatively stock and very few of these trade hands with low miles anymore because they're on their second or third owners and make decent daily cars.
considering what Evo's go for, its kind of a bargain. :dunno: i wouldn't call it a "survivor" or "factory fresh" car, but i'd be willing to bet there are far fewer of these things hiding in collector's garages with plastic wrapped around them than your average domestic/classic car owner crowd.

I found that on CL before he posted on Facebook. Goddamn that's such a nice looking car and he's kept such great care of it. Wish I had $12k

ZHPs are carrying a crazy premium. More power to the people that are willing to pay several grand more for 10hp and wheels, I ain't one of em. I'd take a regular 330i for $6-8k all day long.

Because no 4 door M3 (so frustrating) and it's a close as you can get without getting a 330 and going aftermarket which a lot of people don't want to do. I was checking them out for some time and basically most would need suspension work and the typical cooling rebuild and so on. At this point, it probably makes more sense to start with a cheaper 330 and use aftermarket suspension goodies "while you're in there".
There is a ZHP dedicated board and they post ZHP's for sale across the country (CL / Autotrader / etc.) and there a lot out there below 10K. The above still applies though...

I'm all for weird ass imports but I'd take a 3-pedal LHD 300ZX over that thing.

Ah, then yeah I'm right there with you guys. I always coveted them growing up, one of Ken's friends had one that was making close to 500hp that I got a ride in and it was nucking futs. That shrinkwrapped engine bay + turbos is what always scared me away from them.

Pretty sure the turbos are tucked underneath the engine meaning you have to remove the entire thing to replace them when they go. A local mechanic had a very clean white 300zx and a yellow parts car. I tried to buy the white one off him for years and he would never sell it. I drive past his shop at least 3x a week and just see it rotting away in his field.

The Fairlady Z specifically is what made it move for me back in the day. Still looks awesome!
