Joey put splitters on his M3 when we were in school. I think they lasted about a month before he pulled 'em in frustration.

DJ, Oh yeah I'm not saying about road racing I'm saying I'm staying away from that until another time. I'm too low now for sure for decent HPDE's but they cost too much haha. Also, significantly under-powered. But, auto-x is way cheaper, easier, and I'd like to continue driving in it auto-x it's just I can't in Verona. Not fixing my lip everytime. My confidence will be murdered if I have actual competition in FSP haha. Be interesting to see what they say though and they could run with me and say how much my driving sucks . (I don't know if I scared Maeng or not)

Don't worry about competing since you've only done like 3 autoxes. Have some of the more experienced guys ride with you and learn from their suggestions. I haven't seen you autox but on track you didn't scare me; I thought you did really well. If MM has taught you anything, it should be that seat time is the most important thing.

No, they lasted longer than that but I tore one clean off going into my parents' driveway and just took the other one off for a while until I bought another set, which I think was after graduation.

Well as you all know I slammed my car. I actually liked it. Car looked fricken sweet. Well anyways since I'm going to bet taking an internship offer with Capital One over the summer I decided I will be able to afford a few track weekends. So guess what? I raised my car.

It was a long struggle and battle as everything was seized and ran into problems getting the rear to sit right. Well probably about 12 hours later I almost have the car perfect. I worked on it all by myself as I have a road trip up to MD tomorrow for the weekend as it is my brother's wedding so I wanted it done ASAP as I was getting an alignment done tomorrow at noon.

Anyways. Got the car back up to about a decently snug 2 finger gap in the rear along with a slightly snug 2 finger gap in the front. Around a 1.25" drop. Need to lower the fronts maybe a 0.25" and also drill out the top are with a hole saw so I can add more camber using the camber plates.

No pics cause much wheel gap. Car feels way way way way way better. Running 18/36 for the dampers front and rear. Soaks up bumps and the car just feels more responsive, smoother, and just good.

I can't wait to get back on the track though and actually have several sessions with an instructor to improve. Going to be super fun. Will be upgrading the brake fluid before I get back on the track other than that I'll replace brakes when they need replacing. Don't think I'll be doing too many more mods right now unless it is for track safety.

I'll be glad to be out on the track too. First mod is new brake fluid.

So I drilled the top of my strut towers out some with a 3-1/8" hole saw then smoothed it out with a dremel. On Mazda3's I guess they thought they didn't need to leave room for aftermarket camber plate adjustments. So, I've done what other owners have done to get more camber. I'm probably sitting around -2.5 to -3 degrees up front now. Some pics of the job and also the alignment before the added front camber. Will be going back to finish up my alignment next few days.

With only a few minutes of driving I could feel how huge of difference the degree+ of camber had made. It felt so much better... Hopefully I won't have to touch this suspension for awhile now. That was like 15 hours of work to raise it to a practical height and get everything right.

I can only imagine. In my experience, even as little as an extra 1/2" of travel will do wonders for ride quality when you were sitting on bumpstops before. Good move.

FWIW, enlarging the center clearance hole for your strut mounts might knock you out of Street Touring class I remember you were thinking about, if other stuff hasn't already. Not that class-competition is the most important thing in the world.

I am confused

Yeah I would want clarification on that too, if you planned on running STF that might have knocked you out.

i'd go ahead and throw some paint on the raw exposed metal from the hole saw work. you don't want that part of the car to see rust, and being as close to the open edge of the hood as it is it will only be a matter of time especially in winter.

nice work though, enjoy that nice fresh handling boost
