If you haven't ordered yet, why not put a 2.5" single in single out muffler on a 3" pipe using a 3 to 2.5 reducer just before the muffler? Then put a small tip on it and paint it black. I think it would look better. You could turn it down and make it even quieter.

Then itll be restricted even more dropping down the size to 2.5, but its already ordered. 3"in/dual 2.5"out. Well see how I like it, Im somewhat skeptical at the moment. But ill be happy if its just quieter.

Random threadjack but the question fits here. How hard is a headgasket replacement on the 4g63? I have a friend that told him $1500 for replacement at a local shop where he lives. Is that totally crazy? Is that something he could attempt on his own with some basic car smarts?

I'm sure DJ will jump in here and say that it could be done in an afternoon with a pocketknife and some toothpaste, but the reality is that a "blown headgasket" has alot of implications. If the head and block need to be measured and decked, then 1500 is probably reasonable. That's alot of labor. I think something a little more than "basic car smarts" is required, but it's definitely something that *could* be done, if you're motivated. But more likely what's going to happen is your friend is going to get the head off and then not be able to get it back together (or mistime it) and then it's going to sit. Of course, I'm assuming the worst, that the head gasket blew and white smoke went everywhere and your friend didn't immediately turn the car off, drift off the road, and called AAA.

There are times and places when it simply cant be done by yourself. Call up ET Motorsports (use google) in harrisonburg. They did a quick (saturday to saturday) headgasket, changed valves(12 bent valves), cleaned up the head and had her running again in a week for less than a thousand dollars. And they do 4g63s all day long, I think they did a very nice job on my friends motor.

Oh and Rex, a 4g63 headgasket replacement is easy as pie unless your retarded jk ...its the timing part that gets everyone.
I helped my friend do his headgakset first, but then I had to go before timing his motor up. He did his own timing...and yeah that is why he needed get his head redone. Theres a lot of small stupid shit on 4g63 timing that needs to be exactly right or youll be paying to get the job done again.

should have listened to you guys, muffler is fucking hideous, new single in/out is OTW. It wouldn't have been as bad if the outlets weren't so far apart.

this rear section is something that you want right (looks somewhat stock yet 3"). http://www.machv.com/3ststex.html
with imprezas the possibilities are endless for stock like exhausts. there are so many and they are still 3" and we can just buy the axle back

resonator on, quieter, but not as much as i would have liked, im gonna try and get the muffler on this week. Resonator would quiet it down more as i dirve i would think though.

Dyno'd Yesterday.
Needless to say im very disappointed in the numbers it put down. @ 20psi 232whp Did logs and its pulling timing and my AFR is kinda spikey. But it was just an eye opener as to how shitty a SAFC really is. Next mod will definitely be DSMlink V3. Then I can start making some real power. Gonna check for boost leaks as well. Ill post up the graph and the log as soon as I get the graph emailed from the shop.

jesus, that is an absolutely poo number on 20psi. good luck with everything... hopefully it's something simple.

If you remember what my car sounded like it wasn't loud unless you got on it hard. I never got any looks from popo and it sounded good. I had a flowmaster 40 series single in and out with small split daul stainless tips and it look very close yto factory and flowed good. As I don't have the car anymore I can't bring it for you to listen to again.
