I really think the answer right now is SportWagen or Alltrack. But first of the year who knows what will come out between now and then.
The Alltrack may be a good option cause still at my budget, I get AWD and True DSG. But I wanna lower it, but that cant be any different than lowering the forester, which was a lifted WRX and the Alltrack is a lifted Sportwagen. So I pay a little extra for AWD and a better Auto trans.
Hmmmmm, thanks for the input guys. Feel free to carry on to the next topic.
I wish they still made them. I probably would be too afraid to buy one after my Jeep experience but I've seen pictures of them with the new charger (and Challenger actually too) front end put on them and they look pretty badass. But yea that interior looks awful

Man, if there were only cheaper SRT8s out there than a 20k mile example... like the hundreds of cheaper SRT8s on the market

Man, I may jump on that one, assuming it includes the pack of Marlboro lights in the picture.

don't forget rusty quarter panels and the paint comes off when you touch it.
Its my turn to shit on this thread.
The A4 is going to a new home, the check arrives today and the truck arrives tomorrow. I'm going to cash the check and go to the VW dealer and test drive new alltracks this weekend. Will be surprised if I dont end up in one of those.
I'm also considering moving on the BMW. I know I've had it 6 months but, revolve that door motherfuckers. We only need 1 car right now (wife either takes metro into DC or works at home), just bought a scooter (Vespa 50) which is great now but aint gonna get used come January, and thinking about either moving to a larger house or out of the area (shut up, Chris). I financed the car so that would free up $500/mo in the short term (purchase, insurance, taxes) and I can get out of the car close enough to what I'm in on it. The next house will have a garage, and freeing up some money makes that a little easier.
That said, having a 2nd car is a really nice convenience. But it would need to be cheap, and fun to drive. Wouldnt need it for road trips and wouldnt need to haul more than 2 people but wouldnt restrict it to that, either. I guess the answer is another Miata, but I have germancaritis and a soft spot for old hondas. So there you go, tell me what ridiculous thing I should buy.

I feel like it would be a E36 M3 or a 330, but then why get rid of the 1 series, for pretty much the same car?
Z3
NC Miata
Are S2ks in the price range?
Something awesome off Japanese Classics
Silver 2010 Prius V with 114k miles and some slight front bumper damage
E36 M3 would be fun, but with the prices of the nice ones where they are not much point trading a $27k car for a $15-20k car.
There's no such thing as a cheap E36 or E46. Its like a free puppy.
The Japanese Classic angle is interesting, would have to wait until I have a garage, but interesting. They have a $10k MR2 and a $12k 300z...
Maybe I should just save my coins until I can buy a fucking 911.

This is what I try to explain and why the vette is a much much much better bargain for a beginner track car.
I totally could see you in a $10k M roadster though...

M roadster or coupe could be fun, and their non-M little brothers are cheap. Hmmmm.

Keep the 1 series until you can get the 911. Replacing the 1 series with an e36/46 is dumb.

Have E36 Ms really come up in price that much? Good.
An IS300 would be a good option if you could find a good deal on a stickshift one. Most of the charm of an E36/E46 with much less bullshit.
An M-roady sounds like a dangerous game to play for the same reasons as the E36, they're getting old and fussy and it's going to constantly be rummaging around in your wallet.
A non-M Z4 could be something to look into. Better suspension than the Z3, and they're in that sweet spot where the price has pretty much bottomed out but the cars aren't *too* terribly old.

Depending on how it's been treated in its past life you could still end up chasing gaskets and coolant hoses around in circles.
