I believe they are compatible with all zwave products.

I think you do have to pay to upgrade to the new panel, although they might credit you if you trade the old one in. I got a $50 discount on my cameras just by asking for it, so they're definitely willing to negotiate list price.

Nice! I might have to hit them up at some point. I mean there's no functional reason for me to change but if I end up adding a camera or two maybe i'll lump it all together.

Here's a screencap from my phone. I'm not 100% okay with the framing because you can't see people approach, but we're somewhat restricted with the unique design of our 80 year old arched door. I'm going to mess with it over the next few weeks to fine tune it.

either of you guys have the image sensor? the one that snaps a pic if movement is detected? I was thinking of that for the garage vs video Camera.

I do not, my setup is fairly basic because I own a townhome with limited points of entry. My garage has open sensors on the garage door itself, the exterior entry door and interior firedoor. In fact the only places I would really need potential video logging would be the front door or on the outside of the garage under the deck

This camera auto-captures video on motion. It "pre-records" so you can actually have it include 5, 10, 15, etc seconds before motion is detected. Given that, I don't really have a need for still image capture.

I finally set up the indoor camera... but it's done in such a way to the entrance to and half of the back yard, inclufing anyone approaching the back door. The setup was done on their mobile website with my phone. You plug the camera in via ethernet, the site auto-detects it, and you just copy wifi settings from the other camera on the system. One reboot after unplugging the ethernet cable and it's added. I'm now tempted to put an outdoor and indoor camera on/in the garage.

That is sick, I definitely want to look into this. It's crazy how simple FP makes the process. What's funny is I have been hearing radio ads from the big traditional security companies that are trying to attack the "set-it-up-yourself" vendors and they sound pretty desperate. You can tell they are feeling the hurt from companies that are offering a solid product at better pricing and without the risk of having some dude coming into your home, knowing your master password and casing your property.

in my brief research (none at all), can the Indoor camera work ok on a covered or screened in porch?

So much cheaper than the "Outdoor" one, especially if it will never see water, but just temp/humidity changes.

Were it me, and I lived in that shitty climate  , I wouldn't trust an indoor camera.

It's probably fine, but there may be a chance the humidity gets to it. If it does, I bet FP would replace it anyway...

Pulled the trigger on Front Point.

Lee I tried your name, cause you are cooler than Chris and he was hating on the beautiful swamp ass climate in VA, but they couldn't pull up your name.

So Chris enjoy your free month in like September or something.

Glad I found this post. Been researching system upgrades. We have had basic ADT as it was already installed in the home and have had no problem but our contract has ended and want to upgrade to something with better home integration. Compared FrontPoint to ADT pulse and both seem to have similar offerings but more expensive and awful reviews in regards to ADT customer service. I called today to get some information and am pretty sure I'm going to proceed with the switch. Who wants a referral refund? They didn't mention anything to me about a new garage sensor or opener, that would be a nice upgrade if available. With the external video is it easy to access live viewing on smart phone quickly? I would love to set one up viewing our driveway similar to how Chris' monitors the front door for guests.

It's about 10 seconds from the time I unlock my phone until I have live video.

It would be faster, but I keep a pin on my Frontpoint app so people cannot disarm my system, should they find my phone unlocked.

I'm not opposed to the referral since Chris got one from Justin! Just let me know what you need Shea Smile

Good to hear from you btw! Family looking good from my Facebook following!

Lee, did you get the garage door sensor? How does that work with the system being activated? Does opening the garage activate the system alarm like opening an inside door? I'm thinking I'm going to pass on the motion sensors and maybe do an inside camera. They seem to be pretty active on giving deals to get your service initiated, not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I have a little time to decide waiting for my ADT contract to end, slight miscalculation on my part.

I asked about the garage opener and they said its in the works but they can't talk about it yet, nor any time frame in regards to its release.

I did get the garage sensor, because actually during our break-in the perp stole the garage door remote that was hidden in my wife's car and opened up our garage door. The sensor itself has a tilt mechanism, you stick it on one of the panels and when the door opens and the panels go from vertical to diagonally to horizontally arranged, the mechanism activates and the alarm goes off. I stuck it on one of the highest panels when the door is closed because it is the first to go diagonal, if that makes sense.

The only tricky part is that when you open your garage door, your system obviously will be triggered. If you are in Away mode, you do have I think 20 seconds or something to get to the panel to deactivate it before the alarm goes off. Depending on how long it takes for you to get your car pulled in, jump out of the car and get to the panel it may not be enough time. You may be able to adjust the time delay before the alarm goes off and their monitoring center gets a call, but what we do is just disarm the house on our phone app before we open the garage door. I definitely feel like the house is more secure having that garage door sensor and it also gives us the added benefit of seeing whether or not the garage door was left open or not (you can set text notifications if a door stays open too long). Worth it imo!

We have one motion sensor on the entry level positioned so it will get a hit on any door or window entry into the home but yeah you may be able to do without it. That alarm monitoring space is pretty competitive so it doesn't surprise me that they are offering good plans / discounts etc. ADT iirc dropped their rates significantly from when I originally shopped because of companies like Frontpoint. Buy with confidence from FP, several of us here have and I went through a LOT of research before the purchase. I personally do not feel comfortable allowing an outside installer into my home who has a master key code to my system, that was the biggest selling point for me for a self-installed system.

I'm waiting on them to sync with My Q (Chamberlain/Liftmaster) like all of the other Alarm.com based services. Then no need for that sensor and can control the garage door from one app instead of 2.

I called today because one of my sensors kept reporting open. While on the phone, I realized the bar magnet in the one end had fallen out - presumably because it's low and someone killed it at our BBQ last night. I reinstalled it while on the phone, but he really, really insisted on sending me additional adhesive for my sensor. Like, he asked me three times. It was highly amusing... Mike heard it.
