as soon as i hear someone who's chattin about cars with me and then says either:

"my buddy has..." or "a friend of mine has..."

i usually tune them out. like the guy that towed chapin's 300zx from my parking lot that said his buddy had an awd 300zx twin turbo. or the guy doing the safety inspection on my miata saying that his turbo miata could hang with vipers at summit point and those 'convertible hondas, ya know the ones that rev to 14k or 15k'. i just stood there and nodded my head hoping he'd hurry up and put a sticker on my car so i could go away

Yeah, I'd have to go with "pretty much anything a car salesman says". They'll just throw any buzzword out there to grab attention. The last example I can remember is the guy who let us test drive the new civic si. I was pretty sure they had a LSD, but I thought I'd ask in case he knew. He wasn't sure, but it does have VTEC!

Really? Wow! You don't say!

The salesmen at work:

"Yeah, once Ford and Chevy guys drive the new tundra, they'll never drive anything else, cause of all the power"

"You're throwing your money away if you buy anything but a toyota."

"The Prius will get anywhere from 65-80 mpg, the EPA numbers just don't do this car justice"

and other people:

"this guys xB has a Celica GTS engine and transmission in it"

FYI, during the '80's "suck-through" turbo setups were popular on motorcycles. the turbo is placed before the compressor, so it doesn't need to be pressurized.
