So it was the black GTO.... sigh...
The only *sharp* left turns you should be going safely in a street car on that circuit at the very very highest is around 50mph. One at the esses and the other before the pits. Can't believe that it did so much damage as I'm sure the skidding slowed it down. I'll never get in or drive a GTO seeing that...
The only thing that bothers me the most is there won't be any closure as to just exactly what happened. It's all just speculation.

Never say never, buddy. Drive one sometime, just (much as you would/should with anything that makes 350+ hp stock) respect it and if you push it, do so progressively.

Well if they would release where the actual turn where the wreck occurred it will help narrow things down a lot more and not use words like sharp left turn....
I know you are all doubting this, but if you read the description and look at a map of the track it makes sense.

Quote:On the warm up lap the guy came out of 7 on the wrong line already and snapped the throttle open, wiggled once and he caught it but before it even settled he snapped the throttle again.
It turned right towards the pits, he over corrected to the left, still on the throttle, and looped it around. Spun across the track on a 45 and was facing 90 degrees to the track when it went into the woods. Was traveling basically sideways when the passenger door struck the tree mid door. Caved the car in over a foot.

I won't go into detail , but I can say that despite it being a passenger-side impact Todd is extremely lucky; hands down the worst track carnage I've ever seen. Every millimeter of his safety gear was used to protect him.

I dont think Ive ever seen a car bent that bad from the side. Pretty much a worst case scenario, very little side impact protection in a car. Add the fact they hit a tree (WTF?!) and its game over.
Car spins an extra 90 degrees (or hits tirewall), and both walk away without even a trip to the hospital.
I saw X's car, it was pretty bad, but the cage did its job.
