Things to do in Hotlanta?

So looks like I might be spending Mon-Thurs in Atlanta this coming week for F&I school. I'll be in class from 8-4 but I've got each evening free. I know a few of you have lived there, what are some cool things to do and/or cool places to go around the city? I certaintly want to get up with scotty while I'm down there.

i don't go out a whole lot honestly, especially downtown. buckhead/midtown has ESPN zone and some cool places to eat depending on what you like (i like Fado) as well as the baller cars that run around down there. i think there are a couple breweries too (redbrick, sweetwater). we might be able to hit up andretti speedworld for karting.

Scotty, I'm not real sure where I'm going to be. It was kinda sprung on me that I may be going to the school next week. I don't know where my hotel will be or where the training will be. I should have more info tomorrow. I probably won't go out a lot, but I'd def be down for getting together for dinner/a beer and talking cars.

yeah scotty's pretty much covered it, the only other thing worth seeing is the underground, which is I guess the replacement for the torn down buckhead. At least go there one night for dinner or something.

Monday - Thursday, you say? Well, according to a local expert, the following evening activities are available:

Monday night: Gentleman's Club
Tuesday night: Get "fucked up" in the Velvet Room.
Wednesday: Get "fucked up" again, this time at Strokers.
Thursday: Jump clean, and "fall up in cream".

However, you may find yourself out of sorts should you "Forget your fuckin' manners".

If you have some time, the Georgia Aquarium is worth a visit. Plus, it's located near the CNN center, which also has a few places to eat. You might also want to hit up Atlantic Station for food/nightspots.

Back from the dead. I'll be in Atlanta on Sunday the 9th (this coming sunday) and leaving on Thursday the 13th. I'll be staying at the Wingate Hotel Buckhead off of Piedmont Road. How close is this to you Scotty? I will have a car while I'm there so I will be able to do some driving. My class is from 8:30-4:30 mon-thurs.

Is this Buckhead/3600 block of Piedmont a decent area? I'll have a .3 mile walk from my class to the hotel so I need to know if I should be carrying while I'm there as most of you seem to agree Atlanta isn't the safest place. Thanks for the info!

LOL, you're in like one of the ritziest downtown areas. actually you're literally on the halfway mark of my old commute - i used to go from Decatur to Northside Drive across town. Ansley Park, which you're right next to, has some of the most expensive intown housing in the city. In fact one of our clients at my old job lived there, she was Elton John's art curator (or some smug sounding job). you're close to some good eats too. the bad parts are south of you.

There's an article in a recent Automobile about how Buckhead is one of the best places in the country to sit on your ass and watch Enzo's and Maybach's roll by. Still, carry anyways in case you need to jack some grey poupon.

RJ put it best when he told me it was like a "living rap video". when Jen and i eat outside on peachtree street i like to try to identify the exotics coming from the exhaust reverberating off the buildings.
