Honest Slim's Auto Detailing

So as some of you know, I'm coming up on a long-expected job transition. Charter has been in the process of acquiring my company and they're closing down the VA office. I still don't know exactly when this will happen, but I'm getting a strong suspicion it's going to be March-ish.

In an effort to keep myself busy and keep some money trickling in during my downtime when I'm not blasting out job applications, I figured I'd try to line up some detail jobs if any of you NOVA guys are interested in getting something cleaned up. I've got Dave's rustbucket on deck when DJ finishes it up, and RJ also expressed some interest in giving his new car some love, but after that I'm accepting reservations.

I pecked out a quick price list of a couple different options. These prices are about 75% of what places around me charge.

Full Detail $450
  • Foam Cannon & Pressure Washer Wash
    Sonax Wheels
Clay Bar to remove embedded contaminants
Iron & Tar Decontamination on Paint & Wheels
2 or 3 Stage Paint Correction as needed
    Apply Sealant
    Tire dressing
    Treat unpainted plastics
    Complete interior detail
    Complete interior wipe down
    Dust Vents
    Steam Carpets
    Glass Cleaning
    Leather condition and decontamination

Quick Detail $300
  • Foam Cannon & Pressure Washer Wash
    Sonax Wheels
Clay Bar to remove embedded contaminants
2 or 3 Stage Paint Correction as needed
    Sealant Application
    Treat unpainted plastics
    Interior Vacuum & wipe down
    Glass Cleaning

Quick Polish $200
  • Foam Cannon & Pressure Washer Wash
    2 Stage Paint Correction
    Sealant Application

Here's my resume:

One of my favorites, hand/back sweat being, well, sweated out of a convertible interior:

The seats looked clean before I started and they still turned a rag black.

DISCLAIMER: I cannot put paint or leather back on the car. Any deep scratches, nicks, dents, and gouges in the interior are obviously going to remain. The before & after photos of my gray GTI are probably the best example of what polishing can correct.

DISCLAIMER #2: If you bring me a car that looks like it has been used for active military duty, we're going to have to adjust the cost appropriately. For example, if you bring me something like this:

And want this:

That'd be it's very own conversation outside of "normal" wear & tear correction.

Like I said, timing is currently uncertain, but I am thinking I'll have all this time on my hands sometime this spring. If any of you NOVA guys are interested just post here letting me know, and when I have firm dates of my availability I'll get back to you guys.

Put me on your list when you are near Staunton, VA. BMW 330CI. I need to get some paintless dent removal done first, then it's all yours for the works package.

Well, as long as you're coming down, might as well get the 02 in line behind Pete

Sounds like I might need to be a traveling detailer.

By the way, for the "full detail" ideally I'll need your cars overnight, a full correction on a well-used car can often take 2 days, and the leatherique needs time to work overnight anyway. The lesser packages I can get done in one day.

Here's a few more photos from my most recent work on Jake's car:

I'll take 2 full details please.

But seriously. Julianne's car could definitely use a full on correction and the 4Runner leather and paint could also use love. I'd MUCH rather give my money to somebody I trust and help a friend.

Alright folks, looks like my official end date is going to be "the end of March," although I might not even be going into the office next month. Once the dust settles and we know where we're supposed to be until we actually have our HR exit interviews, I can start scheduling time to get these projects done.

Me too man. My official date is the 23rd. I've sent out 38 applications so far.

Anyway, my fiance is visiting her parents the weekend of the 4th and 5th so it'd be a good time to schedule a detail. That work for you RJ? I'll need it overnight to let the leather treatment do it's thing.
