AutoX Tires for a badass STI...HELP!
#1
Ohhh herrroooo

My friend wants to AutoX his STI and is looking to buy tires. Wanted to throw it out there to MMers to see what tires you would recommend.

He is considereing Direzzaa Z2s; Bridgestone RE11; BFG Rivals; Hoosier A6s
My vote is for the RE11's.

Thoughts?

Muchas gracias. xoxoxo

You've got 3 street tires and one track tire there. I don't know how the first 3 compare, (could probably dig up a GRM article) but the Hoosiers are on another level for autocrossing. IF he's entering a class that allows them, it's competitive, and he wants to win, they are a must. If this is his first time out and he doesn't have another set of wheels, then stick with one of the street tires.

Hankook RS3's aren't bad for the price.

I had the Z2's on the Miata and liked them a lot. Will probably snag another set for the M3 - they're basically the new StarSpec.

If he is asking, the Hoosier should not be a consideration.

Z2 or bust.

Thank you for all of this advice. Keep it coming Smile

DJ ... what tire would you ultimately recommend for the STI?

DJ...hit me up....word on the street is you have a set of RIMMMZZZZ that would fit my Bimmer. I want to grab a nice set for my all seasons and put winter tires on my current rims.

Clean, Mille Migla Sypders. I am selling them to you for LESS than half the price of a stock set of wheels.

Tempting! I want an extra set so I can have a set for winters.
I am also really wanting a ZHP set for daily.

Rivals or Star Specs... for his experience level, any decent summer will be enough to get out there and have fun and learn.

Z2s are the best for that car, but all of those choices are very good. RS3 is the only one I would not recommend, very heat sensitive for a car that's driven on the road.
