Project: d's garage and attached house
#1
Well, since all the cool kids have a garage/house thread, figured I'd tag along.

Moved into the house almost a year ago now, and step 1, 2 and 3 was cleaning it out. 10 years worth of crap was hanging out in the garage so we didn't junk up the house.

can't find pics of it fully loaded, but here it is just before winter when i could squeeze scooby in.

"Cleaning" is more of 'consolidate the crap to one corner' TV is in the basement now, (thanks Lincoln) still need to organize a bunch, paint, do something with the floor, . and yes, that's a wheelchair ramp going into the house, previous owner had elderly parents living with them. would like to take it out to regain some usable space, but seem like a lot of work. there's a 6" ledge that runs around the wall so nothing sits flush to the drywall, kind of a pain unless i get into building custom benches.

At this point i'm just happy to see a floor and be able to walk around. check back in another 6 months for an update.

it's trex stuff, not real wood, and then i'd have to put a few steps in to get to the door for the back yard. all in all, not a big deal but our neighborhood has an average age of like 104 so handi-access could be a plus for resale. either-way there's a list of more pressing house projects to do, but i'm sure at some point i'll get sick of it and rip it out.

Yeah I would leave the ramp in honestly, it couldn't hurt especially since it's an old folks community. If you change your mind, a sawzall and a tow chain hooked to the front of your scooby would get it out of there quick

Picked up a couple of 4' LED shop lights on sale at Costco today for $32 each, seemed like a decent deal. They just plug into an outlet, and came with hanging hardware. Been wanting better lighting in the garage but don't know if two will be enough or not. Might need to get a few more for the basement if they work out well.

almost 2 years later and all you got was a couple lights? Wink j/k

I have a couple of those LED lights, bought them for the garage but im repurposing them for the basement.
They put out a nice quality light but not the brightest. Roughly equivalent to 1 good T8 tube or 2 crappy ones.

maybe i'll get them hung up in before another 2 years passes. yeah, wondering how good they'll be, especially on a high ceiling. Think they'll make a big difference downstairs though where there's one cfl every 20'.
