Yeah I mean I couldn't imagine getting decent money for a 26-in bike any other time so I figure why not go for broke right now? Our shops around here are still not going to see true inventory renewal until February or so. They don't even get their most recent shipment until December. But we're not nearly as big a market so I don't know how dealer fulfillments might work. RE: Mountain Bikes - V1GiLaNtE - 10-09-2020 Will be riding Bryce again this Saturday and then doing a ~30mi ride Sunday around Stokesville. Hoping to take delivery of my new bike next week. Been waiting about 3.5 months, but pleased because I'm getting it about a month early. Mountain Bikes - Sijray21 - 10-11-2020 Probably inventory and demand due to COVID and people rediscovering bicycles. With riding a bike outside one of the safer COVID Era methods of exercise and entertainment. I ordered a road bike (more of a custom build) in July and it didn't arrive until mid September. Normally that process would take 10-14 days. Oh true, forgot that COVID caused a boom in many things, two things I know of personally were computer parts and exercise equipment. Mountain Bikes - Deceus - 10-11-2020 I'm still waiting on i9 wheels I ordered a month ago. Was basically told "2 months ... maybe". Usually 14 days for a wheel build. It'll probably ship the day I move since I can't get anyone on the phone. I am in, race is April 3rd currently. Looks like Scotty and I on one team. Might run up once or twice before hand to get a lay of the land. This would be my first ever "mtb race". Anything to be aware of prep wise for the event? My 2019 Trek Fuel Ex8 is "bone stock" aside from some more aggressive pedals. http://www.6hoursofwarriorcreek.com/ Mountain Bikes - Sijray21 - 10-23-2020 Top off on sealant (assuming you're running tubeless tires), check brake pads, and the usual maintenance stuff. The usual paddock stuff (ezup, chair, etc). Don't hit rocks that will bend your chainstay and take you out of the race... Happened to me on my last lap of a 13 hour 3-man team. I was wondering why it took right hand turns so well after the crash and struggled with left handlers... RE: Mountain Bikes - Kaan - 10-23-2020 looks like it would eat my lunch right now.... i guess i better go pedal A LOT more. My 2019 Trek Fuel Ex8 is "bone stock" aside from some more aggressive pedals. just condition yourself. for me, running helps just as much as biking. keep your heart rate under control. its a 12 mile loop and i have not been able to do more than 1 lap at a "race pace". seat time/running is the only way to get your body in the place it needs to be for sustained pedaling. the thing about WC is that there is NO flats. you're either hauling ass downhill or grinding uphill with one rock garden section. your bike will be fine. i've run WC twice, first time was on a hardtail department store bike with rim brakes, mismatched tubed tires, and hybrid clipless pedals and i still kept up with people - unfortunately my cardio was not good enough to keep going. second time i was on my current dual suspension but did not eat/hydrate properly (overconfident and just lazy conditioning) and i bonked about 10 miles in, cramped to the point i had to walk the bike. i went out way too fast as well, just rookie mistakes. very embarrassing. RJ/Jay/Ryan will probably have better advice on nutrition prior to the race and actual strategy for your laps. don't let what i said scare you though. if you're there to have a good time, i guarantee you'll have it, just go into it knowing its a physical challenge and you'll be smashed by the time you finish. the trail is amazing, scenery is amazing, atmosphere is great. Its a great event I've done it a few times, the trails are super rad - lots of berms and flow. prep wise, dont worry about it, but go over the bike thoroughly - check your chain, tire sealant, etc, you dont want that stuff to ruin your day. you'll want to get a few longer rides under you this winter, 3 hours racing on singletrack takes some getting used to. |
