Hey MM! Quick run down of who I am since I just made my introduction post and most of you probably haven't seen it yet. My name is Adam, I am from Chesapeake, and I'm a sophomore here at JMU going for a double major with three minors. I know, that may sound like a lot, but as of now, I hope to one day be able to work for NASA... So I have high standards to live up to. I'm currently still on my first vehicle, a 2003 Mustang that my dad and I have done work on.
Why am I running for an officer position in MM? Simply because I'd like for the club to allow other students the opportunities that I have already experienced in just my first year in the club. Being able to hangout with some other hooligans at car shows, a wrench night, this past weekend's experience at VIR, and future events like the annual car show and autocross have and will continue to be experiences that I hope to always remember from college. By helping to lead the club, I hope that we can allow for current and future members to also share these experiences.
Why treasurer in particular? To be honest, with my busy schedule from my majors and minors, I would be worried about holding a position such as President or Vice President, so I instantly narrowed it down to Treasurer or Secretary. I figured that since I have taken a few business courses here at JMU already, that I have at least somewhat of an understanding of how the finances should work. After carpooling down and back to VIR with the current treasurer, James, I have learned a lot more about what the treasurer does for the club.
What is one aspect of MM that I would like to improve? Involvement of freshman who probably don't have their car here. For me, as a freshman, I knew about MM, but was not comfortable with joining since I didn't have my Mustang here during the first semester. Looking back, I wish that I had just joined, grabbed rides with current students, and went to events with the club since I know that I still would've had fun! I would like for next year's officers to find ways to show these students without cars that they can still enjoy everything MM has to offer.
In the end, I'm really running for treasurer due to one main reason: to improve MM and the experiences that others can gain from MM!

Hey everyone, my name's Adam and I'm from Chesapeake. I've been in the club this year, snooped around the forums some, and have finally made an account so I can post/comment some. I'm currently a sophomore going for a BS in Engineering, a BS in Applied Physics, a minor in Math, a minor in Robotics (70% sure), and a minor in Astronomy (80% sure).
So, about the Mustang. My parents surprised me with the Mustang after one of my heart/chest surgeries that I had when I was 16. They had bought it from a friend who was going away to college since he wanted something better on gas. My dad and I have done work on it since, including stuff like dual exhaust, Flowmasters, higher heat rating parts under the hood (ex: coil pack), SR cold air intake, etc. Also, my dad did the paint job it (he's done paint jobs since he was my age).
So, nothing too major really except for my audio system. Throughout last year, I did work on the audio by upgrading each of the Mach 460 mid range speakers, tweeters, and amps. I installed 2 10" Kickers in the rear shelf and 2 12" Kickers in the trunk. Currently, the car has 4 amps and 12 speakers in total. As of now I'm certainly content with it, but I may end up installing 2 more Kickers into the sides of the trunk since my dad has some sitting around in our garage. Also, I'm going to add a 5 farad capacitor this summer that I have waiting back at home.
I've been looking into maybe restoring a 71 Mach 1 with my dad. If we end up doing that, I'll probably sell my car and daily the 71 (I know, dailying a 71 brings issues, but to me it would be worth it). So hopefully, in the near-ish future, I'll have to create a separate thread about that project!

Alright gang,
Looks like everyone is interested in doing karting at hyperfest this year. Here are the details:
Location: VIR
Time: TB, sometime saturday, we can also do friday night
Reg Link: TBA (i'll keep checking and edit the link in when it works, right now it brings me to nothing, hopefully its not full)
Price: 250 per team (split price with team members)
Team: 3-4 drivers
Important Copy Pasta: This enduro is only open to teams of two or more drivers, and at least three pit-stops will be mandatory (stop & go pit stops are allowed; the idea is to make things more equal for teams with additional drivers.) The team captain and all drivers should be at the kart track by 45 minutes prior to race start time for registration and the drivers meeting. All drivers must wear, at a minimum: closed face helmet, gloves, closed toe shoes, safety neck collar. Pants and long sleeve shirts are recommended but not required at VIR. Gloves, neck collar, head sock and helmets are available to borrow from the track at no additional cost. The person signing up below will be considered the team’s captain and point-of-contact. Please list your team’s name in the “Sponsor” or “Additional Comments” field.
Those who are interested so far:
Me
Jake L
Taylor
Jackson
Brandon
Joseph
Ryan G
Tyler
Friend
I figure we can still randomize the teams like Gforce karting and just have our own little race against each other since all the other guys at the track are probably going to wreck us on lap times lol. 9 drivers so far makes 3 teams, assuming we don't want more people to a team which would make it cheaper per driver. 3 to a team is $84.
If you'd like to join just say so and i'll add you to the list here.

Figured I'd make a project thread just in case I decide to do anything else to my car, or it decides to explode as soon as the warranty runs out in the summer and I have to fix it myself.
It's made a pretty big transformation in the last two years.

I got my Forester to replace my 2011 corolla S (S doesn't stand for sport on a corolla) since it was extremely slow and for some reason I thought a turbo land yacht was a good idea; thanks mighty car mods. Decided against a WRX hatch since ones with equivalent mileage were out of my price range and I wanted to be different. Turns out being different means being stuck with an automatic.
I kept it stock for all of 3 weeks before I put in a new Pioneer touchscreen headunit since I missed bluetooth. Then I broke out the plastidip to hide the curb-rashed rims and the hideous chrome bumper.

![[Image: 7db1WWT.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/7db1WWT.jpg)
It rode so high back then.
After that I decided it needed more rumble so I picked up a used Nameless muffler delete super cheap off a forum. Dude said it was from a sedan wrx which fits perfect, but it was actually from a hatchback, hence the misaligned tips that are touching my bumper and stick out about 2" too far. Here's a video from my gopro after I put it on.

Decided to get the OEM option mesh grill and a 3D printed forester emblem because "JDM bro". Also is a Subaru a Subaru until you put some hella horns on? I also picked up the Yakima snowboard holders somewhere along the way. Managed to fit 4 snowboards and 2 sets of skis on there.
![[Image: przVKo2.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/przVKo2.jpg)
Didn't mess with it for a while until my brake pads needed replacing and my rotors got warped. While i was doing that i painted the calipers gloss black because I knew I was gonna get some crazy colored wheel and didn't want the rust shining through.
Last summer I decided to spend every last dime I had and get coilovers so it didn't roll and pitch like a boat, it would just look like one.
![[Image: K6rlS97.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/K6rlS97.jpg)
After my bank account recovered from the coilovers I decided to do it again and get wheels and tires.
Went with XXR 527's since they're incredible cheap and were the look I was going for and some falken all season tires.

Shocking but I still don't own a vape after 2 years of driving a Subaru (That's Tyler in the picture)
After meaning to join MM for the last 3 years, when I got back to school I finally decided to do it, and the first cruise I went on up 33 I blew my turbo. This picture was taken like 2 weeks before when I went up there by myself to explore, but almost the same spot.
![[Image: y2u6KbZ.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/y2u6KbZ.jpg)
Thankfully the aftermarket warranty that the Chevy dealer I got the car from gave me came through and I was only out a $100 deductible instead of $2000 (absurd quote from the dealer by the way) , and Bob Wade Subaru had it fixed in about a week.
Since I had a new turbo I thought, might as well autocross and track it now that its already blown up once.
This was my first autocross at the College Solo. Didn't do too bad for how big and tall the car is, but definitely not nimble.
![[Image: dHjrhPC.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/dHjrhPC.jpg)
Then I went to the first and fourth refrigerator bowl in it. Beat some cars I shouldn't have but I think it was their lack of driving skill and not any abundance of mine.

I've heard about 6 horror stories now from former forester owners including the story of a certain alum on here whos' cars have broken them, so I'm now sitting in fear waiting for it to do the same to me. Its been a while since I've modded anything on it, and now I'm debating whether I should sell it while I still have my soul or continue down the rabbit hole that is modifying cars(boats) that aren't meant to be modified.

Okay so after this whole debacle with my GT, I am hoping(key word) to get the dealer to buy it back. IF this happens, I am wanting to go back to basics a little bit and time-travel back to the era of the more driver-oriented BMW. I have somehow fallen in love with Jake's E46 Vert, and now I want one...But I have also seen the E93 engine being one of the best V8's and still a great car to drive. SO, here is what I'm looking for:
Manual Transmission(this will be my first manual I have ever owned)
Maintenance Records(I want to make sure this car wasn't beat into the ground)
Fairly Easy to Wrench On(I want something that I can do almost everything myself)
Fairly Cheap to Wrench On(I'm in college, can't afford to be dropping $1,000 every month)
Decent MPG (15+ preferably, nothing too crazy)
RWD (First RWD car and I want to learn the true dynamics of a car through this setup)
Will Last Throughout College (preferably until I have a salary and can get something else)
---Preferably a Convertible(Because I've always wanted one, so why not)
The E46 M3's are looking like they are in the $15-20k range, which is very appealing to me. E93's are in $25-30k which isn't terrible considering I'll hopefully be selling the GT, but leaves me less money for upgrades and maintenance.
So what do you all think? I am young and dumb so enlighten me with your infinite wisdom!

Back in January, I was finally able to unload my tC on a dealer that claimed that he would, "sell this car in less than a week, especially with that loud exhaust." I'm fairly certain it's still on the lot. That isn't the point of this post, though. I traded the tC in for a whopping $3,000 to put toward a lightly used '15 BRZ Limited. Since i bought it, I've clocked about 3,000 miles and I've loved every one. It handles well, it's very comfortable (although a tad small), and sounds great even in stock form. I'm not sure what my plans for the car are quite yet, but I'm sure it'll take form sooner or later. I've already bought a set of XXR 527s (17x8.25, +35) and have them mounted on the stock 215 Michelin tires. The sidewalls are stretched, but not ridiculously so. Still not my style, and I'll be buying properly sized tires soon. I also have a little diddy from Diode Dynamics they call the "Always-On Module," which keeps the boomerang LEDs around the headlights on as DRLs. Also, two days ago (I think) I ordered and Invidia N1 catback system, so she'll be louder sooner. Sorry I suck at making forum posts. Here are some pictures (in chronological order) of the outside, interior and whatever the hell else.
Enjoy.

Is anyone here even remotely interested in NASCAR? I grew up watching it as a little kid and kept close-ish tabs to the sport basically till now. My favorite driver is Kasey Kahne. Since he took over for Bill Elliott's #9 car back forever ago, he has always been my favorite. I don't expect to find much in terms of NASCAR fans here, but don't be afraid to crawl out of the hole! Would love to hear your opinions on the sport, good or bad

Well, it's been a while wince anyone has posted here... Figured I would spice it back up. Concerning karting, since we just had a pretty big event recently... what are some of the techniques you guys have learned in the past? Before our karting trip last weekend, I had never driven a kart before, which showed in my time of a 27.6-ish. It was only a second-ish behind the fastest time, but one second is absolutely huge on a track of that size.
One thing I noticed is that the faster you went into corners, the more the kart stuck, unless it was a hairpin. On those hairpins I found that I was struggling for speed, losing massive amounts of time there. People seemed to outbrake me and still come out of the corner faster, but I wasn't able to figure that out in the limited time I had on the track.
Just any tips or techniques you all have learned and are willing to share, that would be awesome. I was completely fascinated with trying to get better over my 40 minute total stint, which seemed to just blow by in about half the time.
