So with nothing else to do, I figure I'll hop on the bike with a friend, and hit the road. We laid out a very basic roadmap to start estimating times, distances, and landmarks.
Curious if any of you have done trips like this before, have suggestions, or any input on places to see or what to do to prepare.
The idea is to do an iron butt the first day (1,000 miles in less than 24hrs), and then continue at an estimated 400 miles per day afterward. Guessing we'll do about 100 miles, then stop for gas, stretch etc, then continue on. Factoring 60mph and 20min breaks each stop, that puts us at 2hrs per every 100 miles, or 8 hours of riding per day to cover 400 miles. That 60mph might be conservative, but with no windscreens currently, not sure if we'll be wanting to bomb the highways for this long (If you have one, please see my WTB post in the other section of the forums for the gear I'm looking to acquire before the trip).
Planning on camping out for most places, and packing food with maybe a grocery store visit every week or so. I'm expecting a lot of places that might still be closed during this, so I won't plan on stopping at famous restaurants or attractions like I normally would. We will probably focus on nice twisty/scenic roads, as well as national parks to visit.

I underestimated how out of touch I am with this. I figured I'd take this old iPad 2 running ios 8.3, load Garageband on it, and connect it to a MIDI keyboard and let my daughter make some cool stuff. Despite the fact Garageband used to exist for all iPads, now it seems you can only get it for ios 12, 13. Apparently had I done this a couple years ago, it would have been easy. I've already wasted quite a bit of time just to figure that out. So I'm looking into jailbreaking it via some shady ass looking websites, but then I still don't know where to get an earlier version of Garageband or how to load it.
Anyone tried something similar?

Hey guys, my name is Chris Chrzan ('13) and I haven't been on this forum since probably running for officer in 2012. Anyway - good to be back and I have a question I was hoping you could help me with..
Deciding between 2011 135i w/ MSport package and 101k vs 2011 Audi S4 w/ 108k (+3k more expensive). I'm mostly looking for the driving feel/experience over practicality (my last DD was a 2006 Z4 so anything would be easier after that). The S4 hasn't had the DSG issue pop up yet (so it may be pending) and also hasn't had the timing chain tensioner issue (yet); the 135 has the N55 engine which is MUCH more reliable and I have already fixed most related issues in my Z4 like coolant expansion tank etc so I would know how to tackle those projects. I'm leaning toward BMW, because, well, it's a convertible and I need Vitamin D or I get S.A.D. quick.
Hit me with it...

Hello everyone,
My name is Amanda Garbim and I'm running for Vice-President. For those who don’t know me, there are three main things you should know:
1st - The past year I was the MM secretary (pretty cool experience)
2nd - My major is International affairs with a minor in Spanish Business
3rd - I’m trying to convince my older brother to give me his Miata after his graduation
(please help me convince him)
I’ve been involved in the club since my freshman year, and I meet most of my good friends through the club. I would say that MM is more than just a car club with a bunch of guys, especially now that the number of women in the club increased, which was one of my goals when I ran for secretary. MM is almost like a second family, where we can hang out, talk about cars, help each other, and most importantly care about all members.
Over the past year, I made a couple of mistakes but I learned a lot from them. That’s one of the reasons why I think I'm qualified to be a good vice-president: I learn from my mistakes and I’m always willing to learn more and improve. I am the right person for vice-president because I care about the club’s future, and I will do everything I can to make MM the best club possible.
As a vice-president, I have some goals and changes, I'd like to make:
- The first goal is to ensure that all members and alumni have access to our monthly events. That way people will plan themself ahead, so hopefully, more people will get involved.
- The second goal will be to involve MM in some charity event or maybe create a charity event with another JMU club.
- The third goal is to introduce some diversity into the cruises, going to nice local restaurants around Harrisonburg.
- The fourth goal is to promote the annual car show for next year with a cool video with all members and start spreading the word about the show in January.
I am very excited about the opportunity to be the vice-president, especially because I can see the potential of all the new officers, and having Stephen as a president is going to be awesome.
Thanks for reading, please feel free to ask any questions.

Hey all, I am Dean. This is my second year in the club, and I am currently a sophomore econ/political science double major. This past year I got much more active with the club, have met a ton of good friends, and hope that continues!
I believe I am qualified for this position as I can take good notes, plan well, and can get my ideas across concisely. Along with this, I have professional experience with sending emails, dealing with apparel, and more from an internship over the summer, so I feel prepared to do things of that nature.
I have two main goals I hope to achieve as secretary.
1. Increase communication. I have seen this from alumni, and I also would not mind it myself. I think an email/forum posting after meetings with what was discussed would
be useful to everyone and would create a record as well. Also, I think getting more ideas from members about what they want to do would be great.
2. Help to grow the club. I believe this club can grow with some more promotion. This promotion could be physical, with things such as student org night, or by putting posters
up around campus. It could also be online, with more social media presence (I like Stephen’s idea of member highlights!).
Thanks for reading, feel free to ask any questions or give any suggestions!
