Amanda Garbim - Vice President

Hello everyone,

My name is Amanda Garbim and I'm running for Vice-President. For those who don’t know me, there are three main things you should know:

1st - The past year I was the MM secretary (pretty cool experience)
2nd - My major is International affairs with a minor in Spanish Business
3rd - I’m trying to convince my older brother to give me his Miata after his graduation
(please help me convince him)

I’ve been involved in the club since my freshman year, and I meet most of my good friends through the club. I would say that MM is more than just a car club with a bunch of guys, especially now that the number of women in the club increased, which was one of my goals when I ran for secretary. MM is almost like a second family, where we can hang out, talk about cars, help each other, and most importantly care about all members.

Over the past year, I made a couple of mistakes but I learned a lot from them. That’s one of the reasons why I think I'm qualified to be a good vice-president: I learn from my mistakes and I’m always willing to learn more and improve. I am the right person for vice-president because I care about the club’s future, and I will do everything I can to make MM the best club possible.

As a vice-president, I have some goals and changes, I'd like to make:

The first goal is to ensure that all members and alumni have access to our monthly events. That way people will plan themself ahead, so hopefully, more people will get involved.
The second goal will be to involve MM in some charity event or maybe create a charity event with another JMU club.
The third goal is to introduce some diversity into the cruises, going to nice local restaurants around Harrisonburg.
The fourth goal is to promote the annual car show for next year with a cool video with all members and start spreading the word about the show in January.

I am very excited about the opportunity to be the vice-president, especially because I can see the potential of all the new officers, and having Stephen as a president is going to be awesome.
