FS: 1991 240sx hatch

New price: $3000
Selling my old track car (super outdated thread here) so that somebody can get her back out there and have some fun. I've been holding onto it for years b/c I haven't really had a plan, so I'm facing reality since it doesn't get driven now, I don't have $$ to fund two projects and I've got the Z to work on, and I just don't need it - it's time for me to say goodbye. It's a solid and proven platform, car is in great shape and tastefully modified (especially when compared to a lot of 240s out there), and just needs some TLC from somebody who has time for it.

Here's the goods:
-Piper Motorsports rollbar
-KYB AGX shocks
-Tein S Tech springs
-front & rear strut tower braces
-Z32 300zx brake master cylinder
-Z32 300zx front and rear brakes
-Z32 300zxTT front and rear wheels (225/50/16 and 245/45/16 respectively)
-5-lug conversion
-LSD (Infiniti J30)
-Sparco Ultra seat
-2 sets of G-Force 5-pt harnesses (both installed)
-polyurethane transmission mount
-Centerforce dual friction clutch
-JWT intake
-Pacesetter header
-Recent maintenance includes: oil change, new PS belt, new alt belt, new battery, replaced intake manifold gaskets, new TPS and IAC valve. Rear main seal and throwout bearing were replaced when the clutch was upgraded (15k miles ago)
-extensive records of all work done since purchased in March 2004
-most recent numbers were: 129 HP, 132 torque, 2,690lbs with a 140lb driver
-extra set of Z32 300zx front and rear wheels
-front & rear Progress adjustable sway bars (not installed)
-comes with a Sparco driver's seat mount as well
-update: previously had an exhaust turndown that made it very loud; this has been replaced with a full 3" exhaust

Baddies:
-honestly, if you really care about looks then you'll say this needs some paint work. The top is fading, the PS mirror is blue from a parts car (glass was cracked on the original one), there's a dent in the 1/4, there's a hole where the antenna was (it's taped over and the car has been covered in a barn for the past 3 years so no water has gotten in, but if you're painting the sumbitch you should glass/bondo over it for good), and the PS door is green from a different parts car (replacing door was easier than replacing broken window regulator when I was 22). I've noticed a very small amount of surface rust that needs to get nipped in the bud.
-needs a passenger seat
-I've tried to make it as light as I could, so there aren't really any amenities left. If you're looking for a comfy DD, this car has a lot of work ahead.

Future potential:
Considering the mods done, I think it's a good starting point for anybody. It's fun to autoX and learn the ropes for the track, and I think it's relatively unmolested and a blank canvas for you to make your own and develop. If you're going out just to have fun and learn for now, then it's just right like it is (although a little slow on the long straights, but they're boring anyways).
If you wanted to go for NASA Time Trial, the car's base is TTF** and in it's existing state you would be in TTE (assuming a race weight of 2700#) with 3 points left for modification. The tires on the car are killing you here; taking your rears down to some sticky street 225s to match the front size would give you another valuable 6 points to work with elsewhere. (taking all 4 tires down to 215s will get you another point)

Price is negotiable within reason. Buy now so you have all winter to prep it for next season! Delivery can be arranged as well.
Thanks for looking!

Considering the cost of the safety gear in there, I think you've got a good price.

Dave also forgot the J30 LSD. Smile

And, the 5 lug and "300ZX" brakes:

The fronts were actually from an S14 Silvia Turbo, I got a great deal on basically the full S14 Sylvia front suspension. I rebuilt the fronts before I put them on, although they didn't need it. However, they are dimensionally identical to Z32 Turbo, Skyline GTS-T. There's a kit to use the larger Skyline GT-R rotors, but IIRC, the calipers are actually the same size. The Rears are from a 300ZX TT, and use 100% Z32 brake parts, including the Drum-in-Disc rear. No bullshit USDM S14 Rear brakes, but the legit 2 opposed piston Z32. They were Very Good Brakes.

Then Dave raped my Red 240 Coupe for all of it's Manly Suspension Parts, and put them on this car.

Great track car, and something you can move it up with. Perfect power for going through brakes and tires, then when your bored you can throw in a cheapo sr20, go with LS, or hell even RB. Wont need better brakes, already has half-cage, not bad!

Damn, I new I was forgetting something. Original post updated with points and mods.

Thanks for the detailed description on the brakes mods. It's all been the same to me - when you're ordering brake parts, you just tell them you needs stuff from a Z32 or if you want to impress then you say its from a skyline...

how many reliable, prepped track cars are out there for $3000? then consider how many non-POS 240's are out there. how has nobody bought this yet?

Seriously. I thought a 240 with a blown motor and a body kit attached with wood screws is still $5k. This is stupid awesome for the money.

I have $76 to my name today, not taking into account the food I bought for lunch.

Awesome deal for sure, and if my car was paid off, I'd probably be interested in it, but school and my car payment come first Sad

I'm getting really tired of dealing with flaky craigslisters, forums haven't been particularly fruitful, and I want the car gone. I've updated the ad as well, since it appears that it has gotten a little out of date (maybe b/c of the chunk of forum history we lost earlier this year?).

I'm seriously open to any reasonable offer on this car. If there is something that you don't like about it, tell me and maybe we can work a deal that makes us both happy. Delivery is an easy option as well if that is a problem for you. Car runs and drives awesome, just needs somebody who wants it (I still love it, but just don't have funding & time for all my toys).

Don't know if you've tried your luck on ma240sx.net but could be a start? I'll post up on the CCVT forums, maybe you'll get some bites there. If you do decide to part I'll be up Harrisonburg way and would love to trade you my open diff for the VLSD with some cash your way.
