Rebuilding all 4 calipers in a few weeks and figured if I was ever going to paint them, now would be the time. Not sure why I even want to but just wanted to see how everyone feels.
One of my plans was to paint the calipers red as well as do the M in white and the strips in their respective colors. For those who don't know, M calipers are cast with a recessed ///M logo in them. I thought this would be a cool way to make it pop. The problem comes with how expensive it is to do it this way. So unless I find a bunch of people who want their calipers painted like mine, I don't tihnk I would waste the money on the paint for a "appearance" thing.
Idk, opinions? hate? flame? whatever makes you feel good.
Look in Dan's thread about gauges if you think I don't like settin myself up on here for jokes.

Do it, who cares, I personally dont mind it, if you stick with black/red. Other colors seem obnoxious.

I was going to match the calipers to the valve cover my inner ricer is crying for it.

ill prob do it on the hatch too, but black, it just seems they are easier to clean and handle, plus they dont get as dirty when they are painted. No proof, but it seems that way.
Use the duplicolor caliper spray paint, or you could use their caliper paint kit, in which you use a brush to paint it.
I say go for it. I used a D2 caliper paint kit on the Miata to go from dirty awfulness to jet black. Looks awesome.
If I went black, I would have to do the ///m logo in its appropriate colors just because it would pop so much and look frickin awesome. I was thinking of going red as eventually my car will have black wheels.

I dont think its too rice if your already in there. Ill be rebuilding my calipers over the winter, and debated doing them (expect id be doing a white base coat, then covering up the M/// with tape, and painting all the caliper black. That way when I pulled off the tape itd be black with white letters. I still hvae to find out if this technically is bad for the caliper as it reduces the heat-sink capacity of the calipers.

I suppose I could always paint them red and then come back over them with the various strip colors. Maybe even find someone who wants their brakes done in one of those colors...should have plenty left over but unfortunatley its one time use ad:

DJ you need this:
CerakoteTM Heat Dissipation Coatings transfer heat away from a substrate, resulting in improved efficiencies, performance and longevity of the coated parts. This ceramic-bonded, thermal-conductive coating also helps to prevent corrosion and damage related to chemical and solvent attack. These coatings are proven to increase thermal transfer by 35-40% versus uncoated metal substrates.
USES: Radiators * Intercoolers * Oil Coolers * Brake Drums * Differentials * Transmission Cases * Transmission Coolers * Lighting Equipment * Heat Exchangers * A/C Condensers
Comes in grey and black... grey works best.

Ordered a Red G2 system, system here meaning some brake cleaner, paint, and a shitty little brush but damn doesn't it sound more legit when you say system.
Yes the red will look kind of stupid for now especially on a red car but when I get black rims (dforce ltw 5 or arc 8's) I think it will look pretty good.

Why black rims? Anything silver/polished would pop so much more with the red.

One because racecar and two because I like black rims with red better...and I'm actually not fan of polished anything for the most part. I've seen many M's with polished rims or polished lips and they don't look right too me. Just my opinion but I prefer black rims depending on the rim...yea DSI's look good silver, and M contours look better silver although I havn't seen a set in person in black but feel I would still like silver more...dforce ltw 5's and arc 8s look better black on a red car imo...my desktop background is the blue M and it has silver BBS which is what the arc 8 copies and I think silver looks much better on that blue than black would

I have used that G2 kit several times and it is the best I have found so far. Once that paint dries it bonds on pretty hard. On my IS300 I had white Lexus and "L" logo vinyls made and then overlaid them onto the black painted caliper. It turned out really good.

Since only the base coat really requires the calipers to come off the car to do it right, I might order the other colors over time and do my ///M that is embossed onto the caliper. White M and then Blue and Purple kits will need to be ordered. Maybe find some people who want their caliper Blue or Purple and make some of my money back. Just have to do their calipers when I paint my stripes on.

Dude you don't need to take the caliper off. I've used that kit on 3 separate cars and you definitely don't need to. What I would do though is get some cheap "real" paint brushes from like Michael's or Walmart or something. The one the kit comes with sucks.
