I was thinking on the way to work today about cars that either a company makes and doesn't sell here, a car that a company makes but without the drivetrain/suspension/features you want, or a car that doesn't exist but you'd buy in a heartbeat (that is reasonably possible). No unobtanium supercars.
Honda JDM Civic Type-R
Honda makes it, it's badass, American Honda sucks for not giving it to us. I can honestly say I would 100% buy one if they brought it (and it wasn't priced stupidly). The only FWD car I would buy.
A 2nd Gen Honda S2000
The first gen was a very successful car for the brand and was a segment leader among roadsters for many years running before it grew long in tooth and was axed. It almost goes without saying that there should've been a second gen.
BMW 120
I think the 1 series is overweight and overpriced. If it had an inline 4 pushing about 220 hp, weighed at or under 3000 lbs, and cost a bit less it would be a much more worthwhile car to me. Having the 3.0L TT in the 135 is cool and all but kind of unnecessary IMO. BMW needs to think more Colin Chapman with this car; add lightness.
Euro Focus Cosworth/WRC Edition
I think Ford could easily do well if they sold a turbo AWD Focus hatchback along the lines of the old Cosworth Escorts. They could position it against the WRX and Mazdaspeed3 or make something more along the lines of the STi and Evo although I don't know if a $30k+ Focus would go over well. Either way it makes more sense to me than the new Taurus SHO.
So what's on your list?

Ford Fusion SVT
Take the current Fusion Sport, add the 3.5l EcoBoost motor and AWD system with a 6-speed manual, add a simple sport suspension and some classy 17" or 18" wheels. Try and keep the weight to 3400lbs or below.
Chevrolet G8
Take the Pontiac G8, remove the Pontiac badge and put on one from Chevrolet. This car does not deserve to die quite yet.
Buick Grand National / GNX
Bring back the muscle at an affordable price. Take the tried and true GM 3.8, add a large turbo and drop it into the Camaro chassis but with some retro Buick style. Only available in black.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.
2012 Ford Mustang
1995 BMW 540i/A
1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD
I'm with Adam, the G8 is a sweet ride and should not die because the brand is going away.
In regard to the Civic Type R... They'd price it at least at 30k. It wouldn't sell. We've been there a million times before.
I want a hatchback [that is not 16 years old] that weighs at most 2500lbs, has around 160hp, and gets 35mpg... For around 15-17k. I wouldn't buy one, but others would, and I'd grab one after maybe 3-4 years

Honda Fit Si
To me, this one's a no brainer. Take the motor, transmission, LSD, brakes, and whatever else you can from the Si Civic.
Price it right around 21 or 22 grand, and you'd have a definite winner!
it wouldn't be a winner for 21-22. i could buy an ms3 for not all that much more AND it doesn't look like it's made by mattel. my issue with the fit is it's like 3.2ft wide, making it look like a toy.

makes but doesn't sell here
focus RS. in blue please. don't soften it up for fat people here. the only FWD i want aside from the Fiat 500 abarth.
almost made but just kidding
pontiac G8 ST. its so redneck and classless but i would absolutely drive one and it would make more sense for my life than a pickup while still being fast and very easy to partake of hoonage in.
dodge razor. very weird and cool and light. i'd buy it in exactly that color.
wish they made
mazda RX8 2.3 DSI. amazing chassis, brakes, can fit monster tires, and with all the modern crap is still really light and actually practical. just put an engine in it that makes sense. you already make it for the Mazdaspeed3, how hard can it be? oh but rotary history and sacriledge etc. etc....
modern ford cortina. what i imagine ford would make as G's make-believe 120 fighter. short wheelbase, RWD coupe, maybe 4 door with simple running gear (crank windows, manual seats, no satnav), minimal options and a mean DSI 4 cyl paired to a 5 speed good old fashioned manual. make it look as cool and it would be awesome. of course nobody but me would buy one but hey. here's an old one in their coolness:

At least it's not wrong wheel drive like the Impala.

part of the appeal of the g8 is that it looks good. :dunno:

Boss 302
Take a standard V6 Mustang and strip it of all the accessories (A/C, radio, pwr locks, pwr windows, pwr mirrors, back seat...if it doesn't make it go fast get rid of it). Drop in Fords forthcoming 5.0L engine, 6spd and solid rear. Coil overs all the way around with GT500 brakes and lightweight 19" wheels shod with R compounds. Only option would be paint color. Sticker would be right around $40k.
Cars being made that aren't sold here but I wish were...
Much of the TVR lineup, especially the Sagaris. I know the small British marques are having tough times, but an introduction to the US market to help ailing sales and financial troubles. Marcos went under (again) but if it is brought back at any point in the near future, I'd kill to see their cars in the US.
Cars that don't exist but I'd buy in a heartbeat
An affordable Toyota with balls. I still love the LF-A but the price is ridiculous...hopefully it will lead to more affordable offerings. A new MR2 would be awesome, but anything with RWD and forced induction would be welcome.
There have been rumors that Jaguar is planning to re-introduce classics like the D/E Type in limited numbers with modern mechanicals. If I could afford it, I'd buy one instantly.
An Ariel Atom-ish car for less. Something completely stripped, bare frame, 4 cylinder, etc.
Edit: Holden Efijy. This is what retro should look like

I think this pretty much every day. I think it's travesty that my Mazdaspeed3 is faster than an RX-8. It makes no sense.

The other end of the spectrum...
Because very few family cars are cool enough to overcome the practicality of a minivan, minivans need to find a way to be cooler. This powered by turbo-diesel.
Also:
A convertible Civic.
A lighter leaner Camaro "Z28". Of course lighter = less creature features = no sale.
Design
I agree with Goodspeed...no reason someone can't make a car with beautiful curves like racecars from the 50-60's.

As some may know im on a bit of a wagon kick so all the bad ass sport wagons....kills me we cant get these here. wouldn't mind getting all the diesel options they have available in the UK as well.
