Plans To Build New Track
DINWIDDIE - With the Virginia Motorsports Park set to host their final NHRA Virginia Nationals this weekend, they are beginning to look ahead to future events at the park.

VMP announced that they will be building another track on their property in Dinwiddie.

It will be a 2.5 mile road course that will be similar to the Virginia International Raceway in Danville and courses like Watkins Glen in New York.

The track will be used for testing and racing circuits and would be closer to the population than Danville.

Listen, I know its a long shot, but if it happens should be cool. Not a very informative article either, most people are on the ill believe it when I see it boat. But they do have other offerings, besides drag racing, and with the NHRA leaving, they are gonna need another large source of revenue. http://www.virginiamotorsportspk.com/

If they can pull it off it will be MFN' awesome. What I'd really like to see is for them to make a course that is FIM spec so maybe one day they could vy for a WSBK or Moto GP round but I know that's a long shot given who they'd be competing against (Barber, Laguna, Miller). One can hope though.

Im still waiting for Dragons Ridge Sad

Im too jaded to hold my breath, but an existing motorsports facility that already has the land definately has the greatest chance of success.

Fawk, I forgot about Dragon's Ridge it's been so long. Come to think of it, whatever happened to the South Course being built at Beaverun?

Supposedly Atlanta Motorsports Park is gonna get completed though.

The Dragonsridge Motorsports Park was approved as a Planned Unit Development in 2004. The improvements to Stage Road are a part of the project, and have been completed. As of this writing, no improvements have been made to the Dragonsridge property. A Planned Unit Development has no expiration date.
