I was about to leave work today when our CIO was like, "Michael Jackson is dead." Confused

hock:

He's been a nutjob for about the last 15 years but it's still weird for me that he's dead. I can remember being a little boy and playing the hell out of Beat It and trying to spin like Michael until I got dizzy and fell down. In his prime there has not been an artist before or since who was a better performer. He truly was the King of Pop. I don't think anyone in my lifetime has made a bigger impact on music than him.

Rest in peace Michael.

Weird ass guy. Tends to happen when you have that much attention and expectation from such a young age. Great music and great legend though. I still listen to his pre-thriller, motown/funk stuff on a pretty regular basis, it'll always be the best! :thumbup:

let's hope he isn't planning on revenge.....

He was definitely a revolutionary artist, even if he got a little weird toward the end. I can appreciate him for his showmanship and the massive influence he had on the pop music culture.
Playlist.com has a list up today with all of his hits, I think it's a good flashback to my childhood, if nothing else...

His record sales after his death apparently skyrocketed. Thriller is like #1 on iTunes and overseas a ton of his albums are back on the top charts again.

Based on what I heard on the radio this morning, Thriller was already the #1 album in terms of worldwide sales even before yesterday, although the Beatles still had the #1 album when looking at U.S. sales.

Oh I'm definitely gonna do the Thriller costume for Halloween this year. I was actually going to do it anyway but now I have to do it.

RIP Michael. Say what you will about his personal life and problems, he was probably the greatest entertainer of our time. He almost invented the music video, choreographed dancing, and his influence on pop music was massive. I still remember watching his 90's videos like Scream and Black or White on MTV as a kid.

I mostly agree with Evan. That game was awesome and his earlier music was much better. Aside from that, meh...

When I first heard about it, I was like "Really??? Michael Jackson died??? Whoa!" Then after the initial shock, it wasn't really that big of a deal

There are people on Facebook mentioning how they were crying when they heard about his death. Are you fucking serious? If a celebrity dies and you are legitimately to the point of tears over it, you need to seriously get your priorities examined.
