Rest in Peace MJ - G.Irish - 06-25-2009 I was about to leave work today when our CIO was like, "Michael Jackson is dead." hock: He's been a nutjob for about the last 15 years but it's still weird for me that he's dead. I can remember being a little boy and playing the hell out of Beat It and trying to spin like Michael until I got dizzy and fell down. In his prime there has not been an artist before or since who was a better performer. He truly was the King of Pop. I don't think anyone in my lifetime has made a bigger impact on music than him. Rest in peace Michael. ![]()
Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Mike - 06-25-2009 my heart sank when i heard this on the radio. unbelievable few days in celebrity deaths. Re: Rest in Peace MJ - ScottyB - 06-25-2009 i thought Captain EEO was the shit when i was at disneyworld back in 2nd grade Re: Rest in Peace MJ - WRXtranceformed - 06-25-2009 Eh. Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Kaan - 06-26-2009 I had to ask a bunch of people... i thought the roommates were screwing with me. its terrible news. Re: Rest in Peace MJ - BLINGMW - 06-26-2009 Weird ass guy. Tends to happen when you have that much attention and expectation from such a young age. Great music and great legend though. I still listen to his pre-thriller, motown/funk stuff on a pretty regular basis, it'll always be the best! let's hope he isn't planning on revenge.....
Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Dave - 06-26-2009 He was definitely a revolutionary artist, even if he got a little weird toward the end. I can appreciate him for his showmanship and the massive influence he had on the pop music culture. Playlist.com has a list up today with all of his hits, I think it's a good flashback to my childhood, if nothing else... Re: Rest in Peace MJ - WRXtranceformed - 06-26-2009 His record sales after his death apparently skyrocketed. Thriller is like #1 on iTunes and overseas a ton of his albums are back on the top charts again. Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Dave - 06-26-2009 Based on what I heard on the radio this morning, Thriller was already the #1 album in terms of worldwide sales even before yesterday, although the Beatles still had the #1 album when looking at U.S. sales. I was actually going to do it anyway but now I have to do it. Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Ken - 06-26-2009 he also evidently nearly made the internet implode, it's on CNN This was a shock no doubt, never really listened to his stuff all too much, but still a shock. Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Evan - 06-26-2009 I liked this game ![]() some of MJ's early music was good, especially Jackson 5. thats about all I have good to say. Personally, Im not going to give a child molester a grand loving sendoff. :dunno: And Id much rather look at pictures of Farrah Fawcett.... Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Goodspeed - 06-26-2009 RIP Michael. Say what you will about his personal life and problems, he was probably the greatest entertainer of our time. He almost invented the music video, choreographed dancing, and his influence on pop music was massive. I still remember watching his 90's videos like Scream and Black or White on MTV as a kid. Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Ken - 06-26-2009 Evan Wrote:thats about all I have good to say. Unfortunately i have to agree i was thinking the same thing.. Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Maengelito - 06-26-2009 Evan Wrote:I liked this game I mostly agree with Evan. That game was awesome and his earlier music was much better. Aside from that, meh... When I first heard about it, I was like "Really??? Michael Jackson died??? Whoa!" Then after the initial shock, it wasn't really that big of a deal Re: Rest in Peace MJ - ViPER1313 - 06-26-2009 Joke my friend sent me: "Due to the fact that Michael Jackson is 99% plastic, he will be melted down into lego blocks so little kids can play with him for a change" Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Evan - 06-26-2009 Michael Jackson dead at 50. In accordance to his will, little boys' pants shall be flown at half-mast WhatÔÇÖs the difference between Michael Jackson and a grocery bag? One is white, made out of plastic, and dangerous for kids to play with and the other you carry your groceries in. from Chapelle's show: Prosecutor: "So, you don't think Michael Jackson is guilty?" Dave Chappelle: "No, man. He made "Thriller"." [pause] Dave Chappelle: "Thriller!" When Farrah Fawcett dieds she was such a great person that when God met her at the Pearly Gates, he asked her what he could do for her. Farrah said that she wanted to make the World a safer place for children. So God killed Michael Jackson...
Re: Rest in Peace MJ - G.Irish - 06-26-2009 Evan Wrote:from Chapelle's show:Prosecutor: "So would you let your kids sleep with him?" Dave Chappelle: "FUCK NO!" Re: Rest in Peace MJ - Ken - 06-26-2009 i ABSOLUTELY have to watch that Chapelle episode now Re: Rest in Peace MJ - WRXtranceformed - 06-26-2009 There are people on Facebook mentioning how they were crying when they heard about his death. Are you fucking serious? If a celebrity dies and you are legitimately to the point of tears over it, you need to seriously get your priorities examined. |
