Job Posting...

Feel free to cross post it anywhere you'd like. It's geared towards recent/upcoming JMU CS grads, but is also ok for the older techies. Bernstein is sending out to the JMU CS list (I think).

THE BASICS
---------------------
- We pay more than nearly all of the starting salaries in DC.
- We give you equity in the company.
- You get FULL medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 18 days paid vacation. Try finding that in DC.
- You get a moving bonus to help with relocation to SF (or nearby).
- You work in a small, dynamic, and entrepreneurial office where your voice gets heard.

THE PERKS
--------------------
- San Francisco = true city living. Bike to work or drive to work along the coast. No winter jackets needed. No dress code. Great food. The Beach.
- No office stodginess. Your life will in no way resemble Office Space. No TPS reports. Guaranteed.
- WeÔÇÖre all young. No old people talking about ÔÇ£the good old days,ÔÇØ COBOL or any other language nobody cares about.
- Wonderfully stocked snack cabinet unlimited Vitamin Water for example.

WHY SILICON VALLEY AND NOT DC
----------------------------------------------------
- It is the heart of the tech industry.
- Meet with industry giants face to face. (IÔÇÖve met MySpaceÔÇÖs Tom, DiggÔÇÖs Kevin Rose, and more)
- Get admittance to private tech functions. eg. MySpace Platform launch, FaceBook Developer API launch, Pownce launch

WHAT WE NEED
-------------------------
- Full time employees or summer interns
- Motivated developers that want to make a splash in the tech world.
- People that excel in jobs with little structure.
- People that want to do web development
- Relational database experience

WHAT WE LIKE (but donÔÇÖt need)
---------------------------------------------
- Experience with PHP, JAVA, or Ruby on Rails
- MVC Web Development experience
- MySQL experience
- Linux experience

ABOUT US
--------------------
- WeÔÇÖre creating a travel planning website with some revolutionary features.
- The site is currently in private alpha.
- WeÔÇÖre privately funded.
- We have 5 employees (Me, JMU grad, 4 UC Berkeley grads)

If youÔÇÖd like to know more, send me your resume at <!-- e --><a href="mailto:jack.hirsch@gmail.com">jack.hirsch@gmail.com</a><!-- e --> .

Can you tell us about the projects the company is working on?

We're only working on one project. It's a travel planning site. It's currently in private alpha, so we're in super stealth mode. Basically, imagine an online travel agent that does everything for you. We're working towards some interesting features that have already proven popular on other sites, as well as some new additions that should make us stand out.

Basically, it's one product, one project, and one team :-) It's the definition of a Silicon Valley web startup... haha

I look forward to seeing your product Jack. If you can integrate "what to do when you get there" I will definately take a look. I just booked a trip out west to some national parks and I had no idea what exactly to do so my gf just planned everything :p

If i was going to tell someone about the job, who might be interested, he's going to ask me if they're going to go out of business in 6 months, which they will unless they have something else, this really is a good idea, or they have an assload of capital. I'd want to know at least one of those was true before i moved across the country.

Thats YOU, not the 1,000's of others who would take a bit larger salary to up and move somewhere new. It is also NOT me.

Yeah, who knows where we'll be in 6 months. We're good on money til the end of the year. After you move out here though, if you work here, you can work anywhere.

Not really. We'd be open to telecommuting, but only after being here for a bit.
