Sucks man, he was part of one of the greatest rally endings ever. Im sure all you guys saw the ending of last years X games where he rolled the car and still almost beat Pastrana, lost by less than a second i believe.

Man what a shame this is. Richard Burns and Colin McRae gone, both before their time. Even more tragic that his son was on board too.

Colin was one of those guys that I always watched and read about when I first got into racing. It feels bad that someone from the beginning of my love of the sport died like this. God speed Colin.

this is terrible. i've always thought of McRae as a legend, no matter what the crop of talent looked like around him. nobody will fill his shoes, that's for sure.

Estoril MotoGP reaction: Valentino Rossi dedicates Estoril win to rally legend Colin McRae

Valentino Rossi dedicated his stunning Estoril GP victory this afternoon to rally legend Colin McRae.

The Scot was killed in a helicopter crash near his home in Scotland yesterday, and Rossi dedicated his fifth victory in Portugal to the 1995 world rally champion.

ÔÇ£I want dedicate this to Colin McRae. He was one of my big idols when I was very young and itÔÇÖs because of him I have a big passion for rally, ÔÇ£said Rossi.

He added: ÔÇ£He was like the Kevin Schwantz of world rally. It is a very sad day for motorsport and I am glad that I could win for him today.ÔÇØ

Rossi could certainly not have produced a more fitting tribute to his four-wheel hero after he ended his podium drought in brilliant fashion in Estoril.

That was touching that Rossi would dedicate his victory to Colin.

In a somewhat bizarre related note, McRae's old boss David Richards (founder and owner of Prodrive) crash his helicopter this weekend too. Luckily Richards escaped harm. That would have been a really weird/sad double whammy if ol' DR bit it too.
