well if they are considering opening safari to the rest of the world, why not do the same for the iPhone. granted, safari has been around much longer (considering the iPhone isnt even out) but really. Opening the iPhone up to other parties would really expand their market for it.

i guess that is true - cingular does usually get the newest phones first.
It just seems that if there was a company that wouldn't let other parties in it would be back. just that whole "holier than thou" thing they have going on

Oh, and the reason Cingular gets all the new/good phones is because it's GSM based. That's all.

Nope, apples not releasing an SDK or even a public API for it, so don't expect any apps other than what apple puts on it, so much for it being THE killer phone/pda/everything all in one. Way to fuck that in the pooch apple.
well i stand corrected. i'm never one to buy the latest cell phones though so it doesnt really affect me drastically seeing as how i will never get one. the only reason i own an ipod is because i essentially got it for free. i never even use it and i hate itunes.

I use my ipod on airplanes. iTunes took getting used to after winamp, but I like it just fine now. I agree that apple screwed the pooch on the api thing. People are already developing iPhone centric webapps. its just not the same.
Apparently they just found a major weakness in the Windows version of Safari that gives hackers an in to send malicious code. Can't find a news article on it, but they just announced it on "The Feed" on G4 TV.
